Executive Summary:
The purpose of this report is to analyse the evolution of mobile network
generation technology. Mobile wireless communication came a long way starting
from 1G, 2G,3G,4G and the upcoming 5G. This report consists of an overview of the
evolution of generations and comparison between the same. 5G will be the new
revolution which will provide high bandwidth and lots of newer technologies to its
users.It is expected that 5th generation of mobile wireless technology will be the
unleashing of the IoT ecosystem in which the networks will serve needs of
communication for billions of devices that are connected.

Introduction:
The Generations of wireless Network started with the use of certain
equipment/devices like Network Interface Cards and Routers took over wires and
uses radio waves for transmission and receiving the data. The evolution of wireless
mobile is as such 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and arising tech 5G. 1G is the first generation of
this wireless telecommunication introduced in 1980’s which had a speed up to
2.4kbps. 1G allowed phone calls within a region and used analogue signals. 2nd
Generation came into exixtence in the year 1991 in Finland and used digital signals
and had a data speed of 64 kbps and used GSM (Global system for Mobile)
Communication. In the year 2000 3rd generation of wireless mobile technology was
introduced and the increase of data transmission rate was from 144kbps-2Mbps. It
was known as smartphones and had increased bandwidth to accommodate features
like web-based applications, video files and bandwidth increase. 4th generation
began from late 2000s and provided 100Mbps-1Gbps of speed. 5th generation is a
complete wireless transmission/communication with no limitations and supports
WWWW (World Wide Wireless Web) [1]. This will start providing data from Gbps, 5 th
generation of wireless mobile will revolutionalise the IoT environment and take its
toll.
