Introduction
The paper will provide information regarding the job category which is suitable for a person after
studying human resource management practices. In addition, various approaches used for measuring
the approaches of the selected job category will also discuss in this context. Moreover, a scale that
has been used for measuring the performance of the employee and also its effectiveness will also be
further briefly discussed in this paper.
(a) Job category
Human Resource Manager is the job category that should be reviewed as it relates to the
study of human resource management practices. After studying the HRM practices, it
becomes easy for an individual to select the job category of Human Resource Manager. The
worker main role is to direct, plan and coordinate the administrative functions of the firm.
(b) Approaches of measuring performance for the job category
For measuring the performance of an employee including the managers and workers various
approaches have been used such as comparative, behavioral, attribute, quality and results
approach (Latorre et al., 2016). Among all of them, the best suitable approach for measuring
the performance of the HR manager is the behavioral approach of performance. The
behavioral approach depends on the behavior of the managers towards the employees. The
approach helps the managers to keep a record of both ineffective and effective performance
of the employees working in the organization.
In addition, another reason of choosing this approach is that it consists of vertical scales such
as BARS (Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scale) and BOS (Behavioral Observation Scales) that
help the managers to understand their performance level in the firm (Noe et al., 2017). With
the help of these scales, the HR managers can change their behavioral prospects as per the
organization strategy so that they can influence their employees to do their best for the
organization. Hence these are the reasons for which this behavioral approach is chosen for
measuring the performance of this selected job category.
(c) Scale useful for the job category
The measurement scale that should be used by an HR manager to determine their
performance in the organization is the feedback report scale. HR Managers are the one who
adequately increases the opportunities of their employees as per their performance, but in
order to understand the HR manager performance, it is essential for the firm to develop
proper measurement scale. Among all other various scales, the feedback report scale is most
suitable for them. With the help of this scale, the HR Managers will get feedback from their
superiors as well as from their team members which thus eventually help them to identify
their position level in the organization (Pulakos et al., 2015).
The supervisors and the employees are the two groups of people present in an organization
whose working skills are different from the HR managers. Therefore, after getting feedback
from both these group of peoples, the managers should understand their position among the
staff members in the firm where he or she is working. If positive feedback has been found
from both these group of people in the workplace, then it can influence the HR managers to
achieve their goals in the business in coming days (Rasheed et al., 2015).
In other words, if they get negative feedback from both employees and superiors, then it
influences them to work hard for the firm so that in future he or she can get positive feedback
