INTRODUCTION
Human Resource in an organisation plays very essential role as they assist in
accomplishing business objectives in an effective manner and within given time frame. HRM
refers to a procedure which includes planning, selection, organising, recruiting as well as
selecting right person at the right time at right place. This as a result aid them in attaining
business goals and objectives. defined as the process of planning, recruiting and selecting the
right candidate for business organisation so that organisation goals can be accomplished. Along
with this, it has also been said that with the help of implementing HRM practices in an effective
manner, company will be able to manage their staff members in an effective and efficient manner
(Bader, Schuster and Dickmann, 2019). In order to complete the whole report in an effective
manner, Morrison’s is taken as the base company. It is one of the biggest supermarket chain
established in the year 1899. Its headquarter is located in Bradford, west Yorkshire, England and
founded by William Morrison’s. In this report, various topics are going to be covered which
includes detail discussion about HRM & it’s different policies which assist in accomplishing the
goal in an effective manner. along with this, importance of Human Resource Management is also
included along with various challenges and issues faced by companies while they introduce any
sort of change within the workplace. At the end of this report, recommendation is given to the
management team of the company in order to perform their work in a systematic & accurate
manner.
MAIN BODY
Overview of Company
Morrison’s is chosen as the base organisation in this report which is a considered as fourth
largest supermarket chain at the marketplace of UK. The company was introduced in the year
1899 by William Morrison and the headquarter is located in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England.
The company deals in various food and beverage products, Books, Magazines, Clothing and
many other products (Ferrari and et. al., 2018). William Morrison started their business as a
butter and egg merchant in the Rowson Market. In 1958 Morrison’s open a small shop which is
the first service store. Later in the year 1961, in Girlington district of Bradford, Company open
its very first supermarket store named as “Victoria”. As of 2016, it has been identified that the
company have almost 498 supermarket store in Wales, England, Scotland and in Gibraltar. It has

also been identified that the company employed more than 110,000 employees as of April 2019
and served almost 11 million consumers every week.
Discussion about Human Resource Management
Human Resource Management define as the most essential department within a company
as it will assist in how an individual need to work in order to accomplish the goals and objectives
of the company. The main aim of HRM is to recruit, select as well as hire capable and right
person at the right place and at the right time according to the need and requirement of the
company. This will aid them in accomplishing their organisational goals and objectives of the
business entity in an effective manner (Chakraborty and Upadhyay, 2018). Along with this, it has
also been said that the role of HR manager mainly falls in three main areas which includes
employee compensation & benefits, staffing as well as designing work. This will aid in
enhancing the overall performance and maximises the productivity at the competitive
marketplace. In reference to Morrison’s, with the aid of having effective HRM department,
company will be able to identify what type of training practices they need to adopt in order to
enhance the performance of business organisation. For every business organisation it is very
necessary for the manager to provide training and development sessions if they implement any
sort of change within their workplace, so all the work will be performed by staff members in an
effective and appropriate manner. This as a result assist in attaining their pre-defined task and
objectives in an effective manner so they can maintain their sustainability at the competitive
marketplace for a long period of time. If any business entity begins using effective and
appropriate Human Resource Management, then they can easily decide all those decisions which
provide favourable result to the company and reduce any kind of risk which affect their overall
profitability and goodwill.

HRM is one of the most essential as well as crucial department within an organisation
where managers are required to conduct ample number of work so that they can accomplish
organisational goals and objectives in an effective manner (Budhwar and Mellahi, 2018). For
every HR manager it is quite necessary to understand that how all the HR policies need to
comply in an organisation so that they can attain best and positive results as it directs and guides
them in a well systematic manner. In the present context of Morrison’s, for a HR manager it is
very important to conduct all the work in an ethical and systematic manner and for this they need
