motivating is to overcome the prevailing complexities of market such as higher employee
turnover rate. It can help the company to achieve the benefits such as lower absenteeism and
retention of workers. There are several reasons for which absenteeism inclines and result in
having lack of productiveness which can be eliminated by having appropriate level of motivation
among staff. Inclined level of employees’ turnover can result in ineffective implementation of
employees practices which can affect the processing of business which can be proper dealt with
having motivation. In contrast to this, Ling, Katha and Mullan (2019) articulated that motivation
is association with imitating, guiding and maintaining goal oriented approach among workforce
to accomplish objectives. There are few drawbacks which are required to be taken into
consideration for having deeper knowledge about its lacking areas so that proper implementation
of strategy can be executed. It becomes expected activity which increase the cost and time
consuming process for the company. The main reason behind considering it as time consuming
procedure is that different employees has distinct personal objective which can become difficult
to understand. It makes it time consuming process and offering different type of motivation can

challenges faced by employees in respect to complete the task play significant role in impacting
the performance shared by staff. on the basis of this it can be specified that these factors boost
and hinder workforce motivation.
Theme 2: Various motivation scheme used to enhance employees’ productivity
Hitka, Kozubíková and Potkány (2018) said that there are several techniques which can

contrast to this, Riyanto, Endri and Herlisha (2021) there are few monetary based motivational
schemes which is adopted by companies to increase effectiveness and higher potential sharing
capacity of workforce. This involves offering incentives and rewarding for successful attaining
of objectives. It aids in meeting the financial requirements of staff that enhance their enthusiasm
to complete task for developing company so that they can as well grow. In against to this,
Sitopu, Sitinjak and Marpaung, (2021) the one of the most effective scheme to for motivating
employees to give higher level of potential is offering feedback for the work done (Motivation
schemes can build long-term engagement, 2021). It can be offered about both positive and
negative aspects in respect to have higher level of improvement in strengthening their skills and
ability to reach objectives. On the basis of this it can be interpreted that providing feedback to
employees help them to grow via improving lacking areas so that higher productiveness can be

staff. Achievement for successful meeting of objectives enhance their personal will to
accomplish responsibilities. Affiliation is concerned with developing social interaction which
can be created by companies through building good working environment. In contrast to this,
Moring (2022) depicted that Herzberg’s motivation theory is highly suitable for two factor which
is considered to be crucial needs s such as hygiene and motivation. Hygiene includes person
work environment, wages, workplace relationship motivation needs includes promotion,
achievement, recognition, etc. on the basis of this, it can be found that these motivational

theories allow to get the deeper information about the factor that can motive so that applying
corrective strategy can help in achieving different benefits.
Theme 3: Benefits of motivation schemes within business environment
In the views of Hanaysha and Hussain (2018) there are several type sf benefits which can
be derived by having motivated employees which can enable the company to get higher
productiveness. There are various types of benefits that can be obtained by applying different
forms of motivational techniques. Distinct form of motivational scheme provides different
advantages which permits organization to get competitiveness to deal with prevailing
circumstances. This includes highly productive outcome, better performance and continuous
learning. It is important for the organization to have such staff that can effectively coordinated
with changing circumstances. Motivational scheme boosts the continuous development
approach that enhance the ability of employees to cope with prevailing circumstances by sharing
full potential. This become possible by applying feedback mechanism in organizational process.
On against to this, Tumi, Hasan and Khalid (2022) stated that to meet the deadline of work such
as complying with changing market forces it becomes essential to have motivated workforce.
Performance appraisal, rewarding system and incentives types of motivational techniques are
widely taken into practice for ensuring that financial needs of employees are attained. The
company receive different pros such as good brand image in market, ability to innovate and take
strategic decision. Once the staff understand to the monetary benefits attached with enhances
particular course of action higher potential is provided. It increases productiveness which helps
to meet the objectives of higher stability and profitability to maintaining competitiveness to

Setyowati and Sofingi (2022) said that major advantages which can be obtained by
having highly moralized staff into organizational activities. This includes higher improved
relationship between management and staff which makes effective to implement new policies
and strategies motivated employees coordinate with change required ad executed by enterprise
which enable to formulate create productive working environment. It offers the ability to create
challenging goals so that expansion and development can be attained (Top 15 Employee
Motivation Tips and Benefits, 2022). On contrast to this, Al Khajeh (2018) specified that to
become successful in current competitive working environment business require to pay attention
on giving opportunity for developing personal career so that higher productiveness can be shared

CHAPTER 3: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Introduction of the chapter
This is being regarded as one of the most important chapter of the whole research work.
It systematically defines the manner in which the problem of the research needs to be solved.
Furthermore, it is a science of different tools as well as approaches that needs to be considered
for gathering as well as evaluating the information concerning the subject area or topic of the
study. In each and every research study, it is very much important to develop a plan and to
understand the methods of research as well as techniques. Based on the problem of the research
varied methods, techniques and strategies are being adopted by the researcher. The following
chapter will also going to include different research methods being utilized by the researcher for
fulfilling the desired aim and objectives.
Research type
Research is being categorised into two types that is qualitative and quantitative research.
Both of these researches supports in conducting suitable research and for attaining the
established objectives. Talking in relation with qualitative research, it is mainly concerned with
obtaining of information which is not numerical in nature and involves carrying out theoretical
study. On the other hand, quantitative research type is related with performing the whole study
based on numerical and mathematical figures. For the present research purpose qualitative and
quantitative type of research is being selected for attaining the aims Seeking help from this
theoretical perspectives of the topic under study is being gathered effectively and mathematical
facts is also being gathered (Nayak and Singh, 2021).
Research approach
Talking in volume about the research approach it is being referred as the plan and
procedure which involved different steps of wide supposition for detailing approaches and
strategies related to the study. The research approach is mainly of two types that inductive and
deductive. Both the approaches are useful for analysing the procedure and the manners by which
the whole study needs to be carried out. First focusing in relation with the inductive approach, it
is generally concerned with accumulating data, evolution of patterns amid different information
and then applying appropriate theory. It does not involve formulation of hypothesis. On contrary
to this, deductive approach normally emphasize on firstly mentioning the theory for the purpose

of formulation of hypothesis and then observing things for authorizing the same. It involves
formulation of hypothesis. Furthermore, research planning and process pertaining to data
gathering, analysis and interpretation highly depends on type of approach undertaken. Inductive
and deductive are the main two approaches which researcher selects for achieving research aim
& objectives (Singh, 2022).
Research philosophy
Moving further, research philosophy is being defined as the plan of action in regards with
the ways whole study needs to be carried out by the investigator. It also plays a crucial role in the
research work as defines the sequence of activities. Research philosophy is again categorised into
two types that is interpretivism and positivism. Varied ways by which data can be collected,
analysed and consumed is being defined by the research philosophy. Throwing light in relation
with the interpretivism research philosophy, it is being used by the researcher in the studies
which involves interpretation of the data which is subjective in nature and present in accurate
manner. On the other hand, positivism philosophy is used when the study involves explanation of
data in objective manner. In addition to this, this philosophy is also concerned with determining
the things which can be authenticated systematically and is also capable of producing methodical
evidence. It presents belief and way through which specific phenomenon will be analysed as well
as used. In the present research work, interpretivism is mainly used by the researcher since it is
qualitative investigation (Mohajan, 2018).
Research design
Research is being referred as an activity for observing something which is being carried
out by the researcher. When any research is being conducted one of the most crucial thing in the
study is design of the research. Speaking in volume in regards with the research design, it is
being defined as a particular procedure being included in the process of research such as
collection of information, its evaluation and writing report. In addition to this, seeking help from
the research design, the researcher is in a position to make improvements in the research methods
which are appropriate for the topic and subject area and establish studies for attaining success.
There are generally three types of research design descriptive, experimental and historical design
(Nayak and Singh, 2021). Descriptive research design is being defined as that research which
involves investigation of the situation, circumstances and other things being mentioned and is
being presented in the form of research report. Experimental research involves quantitative
Document Page
methods with scientific approach and finally, historical design includes collecting, verifying and
synthesizing evidence from past for establishing facts. In the present research work, the
researcher has utilized descriptive research design as in the present work a phenomenon and
situation is being defined and answers the questions regarding the problem of the research.
Data collection
Throwing light in relation with data collection, it is being defined as the process of
gathering information from all the valid and appropriate sources in order to find the answers of
the problem of the research study. In the field of research, for the attainment of objectives data
can be gathered mainly from two sources such as primary and secondary. Primary data refers to
the one which scholar collects for the first time through the means of survey, observation, focus,
group, interview etc. On the other side, secondary data may be defined as the one which has
already been gathered and analysed by some other researcher (Kumar, 2018). In order to assess
motivation schemes that can be used for the enhancement of employee productivity and potential
data has been gathered from both the sources. With regards to primary data gathering survey has
been conducted on 40 personnel of Sainsbury via questionnaire. In addition to this, books,
journals and scholar articles have also been evaluated for developing brief thesis according to the
research issue being investigated.
Sampling
Probabilistic and non-probabilistic are the main two sampling techniques which scholar
can employ for sample selection. Due to having limited resources such as time and money it is
not possible for the scholar to conduct study on whole population identified for the study (Babii,
2020). For survey, 40 employees of Sainsbury have been selected referring random sampling
technique. The rationale behind the selection of random sampling is that it avoids biasness and
thereby facilitates appropriate sample selection.
Data analysis
It implies for the process which scholar undertakes for inspecting, transforming and
modelling data with the motive to derive suitable outcome. Techniques of data analysis vary to
the significant level in line with the research type being selected. Moreover, under quantitative
study SPSS is used for presenting logical judgement by evaluating data set (Ebrahimi, 2022). In
contrast to this, thematic perception test usually followed by the scholar when nature of study is
Document Page
qualitative. In the current study, SPSS tools and techniques such as frequency distribution,
descriptive statistics and hypothesis have been applied. SPSS technique helps in presenting
suitable view of research issue or problem through the means of hypothesis and graphical
presentation.
Research limitations
Time, money and lack of resources recognized as the main constraints that closely
impacts the effectualness of study. Due to time constraint survey has been conducted on only 40
employees rather than large sample size. However, in order to avoid or mitigate the impact of
such limitation simple random sampling technique has been considered. Moreover, such
probabilistic sampling technique helps in doing quantitative study prominently. Further, several
sources were not easily accessible as they require subscription. Hence, by using keywords related
articles have been searched and used.
Reliability and validity
Several aspects have been considered by the researcher for enhancing the reliability and
validity of study. In order to make the study valid latest data sources, which published after
2016, have been considered by the researcher. Further, no modifications have been done in the
data gathered through the means of survey. It presents that no biasness have been considered for
fulfilling own objective or motive. Along with this, copyright protected sources have been used
while making selection of articles. The reason behind this, copyright sources provide highly
reliable information over others.
Ethical considerations
In order to enhance the effectualness of study and researcher has complied with all the
ethical aspects. Hence, consent forms have been sent to all the respondents which shows their
agreeableness and voluntary participation in research. Consent forms present that no one
compelled to participate in survey. Further, confidentiality has been maintained with regards to
data gathered during survey. Along with this, reference list has been added at the end of for
giving credit to the authors. This in turn shows that no data has been pasted from other sources.
