INTRODUCTION The term motivation can be defined as a way of influencing people to work with full of efficiency and effectiveness. It is essential for companies to keep their employees motivated so that overall objective can be achieved (Chen and Wong, 2015). There are different types of motivational theories which can be applited to influence employees. The project report is based on a newly opened store and their management wants that their employees should be motivated. For this purpose different types of motivational theories are discussed in the report. MAIN BODY 1. Different theories of motivation which can be applied in Jack discount store. As above stated that motivation is essential in order to achieve overall objectives of companies.Formotivatinghumanresourceofacompany,therearedifferenttypesof motivational theories which are as follows: 1. Maslow's need hierarchy theory- This is one of the well known theory of motivation that is based on the human needs. It was developed by Maslow and according to him if a particular need of human being is satisfied then next level of need has to be active in order to motivate. According to Maslow, there are five levels in the hierarchy that are as follows: Physiological needs- There are some common need of human beings which are food, clothing, air and many more. These needs are needed to be met first before going to be on a next level. Such as in the aspect of above Jack discount stores, it is important for their
management that basic need of their employees should be fulfilled in order to motivate them. Safety needs- This is the next need which incur after satisfying physiological need. Basically, after having basic things human beings desire for economic securities and protection from physical risks. Such as in the above company's new store, if their employees will feel secure for their jobs then they will be motivated and will work with full of efficiency. Social needs- It is common nature of human beings that they want to be social with external environment (Brahm, Jenert and Wagner, 2017). They interested in social interaction, communication etc. This is so because if a person will be social then people with join him in occasion of happiness and sadness. Like in the Jack discount store, if their employees will be social with managers then it will be easier to motivate them. Esteem needs- These needs are related to self respect that consists self confidence, independence, competence etc. If this need will be fulfiled then it may leads to strength and higher capacity of employeed which can be beneficial for company. Such as in Jack discount store, if their employees will be confidence and independence then this can be beneficial for Tesco's management to motivate them. Self actualisation needs- This is the higher range of need of human beings. Basically, it is type of desire in which person wants to become able to achieve everything. Like in the Jack discount store, their employees will be motivated if they fulfil this need. Though, it is quite difficult to satisfy this need to everyone. 2. McClelland's theory of needs- This theory of motivation states that there are three motivating drivers which can be applied on any gender or age. Herein, below three key motivational drivers are mentioned that are as follows:

Achievement- The need of achievement is related to urgency of achieving something. This is a type of need which drives individuals to work with full of efficiency so that goal of higher achievement can be fulfiled (Chatterjee, Afshan and Chhetri, 2015). For example, this is the need of painter to paint a famous painting. Like in the Jack discount store, their employees can be motivated if they will have any target to achieve. In order to achieve target of getting promotion, employees will work with their full of efficiency. Power- The need of power is a wish of an individual to keep control and authority over another. These types of individuals want that their views and ideas should be accepted and applied over others (Rajiah and Bhargava, 2016). These people are considered to be powerful leaders and can motivate rest of other people in group. Such as in the above Jack discount store, their employees can be motivated from those individuals who want to become leader. Affiliation- The need of affiliation can be defined as an urgency of an individual to have interpersonal and social relation with different group of people. They want to work in group by making friendly relations. The individuals get motivated by need of affiliation prefering being part of part of group. Such as in the aspect of above Jack discount store, their employees can be motivated by need of affiliation of others. This may become possible because if their managers will try to affiliate with employees then it will create a positive environment inside the firm which may lead to higher motivation of employees.
CONCLUSION In the end part of project report, it has been concluded that motivation of employees is a key aspect for companies in order to achieve success. There are a wide range of motivational theories that can be applied by companies for motivating their workforce. The project report concludes about two different motivational theories which are Maslow's need hierarchy theory and McClelland's theory of needs. Both these theories can be useful for newly opened store of Tesco in order to motivating their workforce.
