INTRODUCTION
Motivation is an activity of stimulating individual actions and activity to attain the set
objectives and goals. It can be a process of using the efforts of a person of an organisation to
motivate the employees so that they can do their work in more effective manner (Hitka and
Balážová, 2015). For this the leader of the company use different techniques, activities and
actions for encouraging employees. This particular case study is based on Tesco Plc. which is
opened its Jack stores to offer products on discounting. It will also discuss about motivational
theory that are useful for the workers in Jack stores which will assist in encouraging the
employees. The advantages and drawbacks of these theories will also define.
MAIN BODY
Motivation is understood as a driving factor that devises individual to perform work and
task according to the requirement of the company. Organisations operates all over world so
motivation is a tool which help in improving the present extent of productiveness and execution
transferred by the workers. When a company takes efficacious measures to fulfil the needs and
requirements of workforce, it create a sense of trust and belief within the employees and they
tend to become more dedicated to the company. In term of outcomes, they take advantages from
the company's resources and their abilities to accomplish the pre defined organisational
objectives within set time period.
Theories of Motivation
Tesco Plc is a British retail company which has been directing the domestic market over
the course of time. It is realised by the senior management of the company that passage of time
has increased the level of competition in the specific sector in which the organisation operate its
business. It has appeared as a crucial threat to the position of Tesco in UK market. ALDI and
LIDL are some organisations which offer their products on discount process so they have a large
market and customer base. The management of Tesco has announced to launch Jack stores in
near forthcoming time (Kamasheva and et. al, 2015). These stores would be discounted stores
that are being launched in UK with a purpose to improve the sales of the respective company.
These stores also deal with top retailers like ALDI and LIDL which already provide their
products and services at discounted prices. In context of it, the firm wants to assure that the
employees at new stores are encouraged so that profitability and revenue of the company can be
