Portfolio6 I have the ability to handle the number of customers visiting our restaurant. My role plays a major role in the restaurant by welcoming visitors with a pleasant smile. Currently, my job role in the restaurant is a waitress and I try to get a job posting for the hostess. As I gathered experience in handling the customers with patience, then I would be able to manage the responsibilities of being a hostess who welcomes the guests to the restaurants, drives them to the table and offer them a menu card. Capabilities and competencies needed for the goal: As my future goal is to become a hostess, the list of capabilities I should possess is: ๏ทGood communication skills to give a warm welcome to the visitors. ๏ทAbility to speak in different languages when international visitors visit the restaurant. ๏ทAbility to build a good and friendly relationship with the guests visiting the hotel. ๏ทShould be able to present myself neat enough to carry a smart and decent look. ๏ทAbility to have a free interaction with the customers and the hostess must not tighten herself in fear (Baker, 2015). Strength and Weakness My weakness is my communication skills and my strength is my ability to deal strongly with the customers as I apply for the post of hostess. I can handle any number of customers visiting our restaurant and have a quick grasp of the orders listed by my customers. I have a quick ability to deliver the ordered products to the respective tables even I was supposed to deliver on a dozen tables. As I lag in communication skills, I should take steps to improve them as my ambition is to become a hostess whose major skill is to have effective communication skills and ability to speak in a variety of languages in a fluent way.
Portfolio7 Capabilities to bedeveloped To be a hostess in a restaurant, I wish I should develop capabilities of communication and the smarter way to deal with the customers. These two capabilities are chosen as they are required for an efficient hostess. Hostess is a person who stands first as soon as the customers step into the restaurant. Therefore, the initial capability which I should develop is my communication skills and must have the ability to learn the slang and language of a variety of customers who arrive at the hotel. The second capability which I should develop is the way of behavior with the customers. For this job role of hostess, I must develop my skills how to present myself smart in front of the descent rich parties who step into the hotel for the first time. The development of these smarter skills helps me to greet my customers in a smarter way and driving them to their respective tables with a menu card and a plate of spoons (Lund, 2011). The development of this skill plays a major role in presenting my descent and attractive look to the customers. Therefore, I choose these two capabilities as my area of development in order to reach my goal of becoming a hostess (Cherfi & Szanto, 2018). SMART Goal and Action Plan Table My smart goal is to become a hostess through the knowledge and experience I gained from being worked as a waitress. To achieve my smart goal, some objectives are set by me. This includes: a)To communicate with the customers in a pleasant manner. b)Ability to treat the customers with patience. c)Offering them the menu card and greeting them a smart look and a decent smile. d)Driving them to unfilled tables and offering them the menu cards and waiting for their response (Brody, 2018).
