Abstract
The chief purpose of the study to search the contributing factor which is causing non-adherence
to medication amongst the people who have Type 2 Diabetes. The study has made use of cross-
sectional study, which will be carried out in the local hospital and includes the patient taking
anti-diabetic drug treatment. The number of the participants will be 30 irrespective of age,
gender and ethnicity. The obtained result will be disseminated by publishing it online and
representing in a health care conference. Therefore, the paper concludes by saying that the result
of the research project can create an insinuation to the health care sector, where the health care
professional can amend their health practice. They can give effective treatment and counselling
to the patient concerning the significance of anti-diabetic drugs and educate them to take their
medicine in time.

Introduction
Diabetes mellitus is creating a burden in the health sector globally. There are many ways
out by which diabetes can be treated however, the peoples are ignorant toward its process of
treatment, or there are some socio-economic factors which are exploiting the whole health
scenario. Therefore, the principal aim of the paper is to propose research which will focus on
finding the contributing factors, which is creating non-adherence to medication among Type 2
Diabetes individual. As per the report of the World Health Organization, there are around 2.7
million peoples who are not taking their treatment process and medication in effective way
(Roglic et al. 2016). People are not concerned about their diet and physical activity, which is
causing an increase in the number of diabetic people and high death rate. Hence, there is a great
need to search for the reasons which is causing non-adherence to medication. In order to
accomplish it, the paper has done a critical review of the research article to deduce the research
gap and find the significance of the study. The study has made use of a cross-sectional research
design, which has included the people who are taking anti-diabetic medication treatment. The
design is based on the structured questions which are analysed statistically, and the theme is
generated to outline the factors. The study has taken ethical consideration into account and
highlighted the budget and timeframe of the project.

Literature review
Diabetes mellitus is prevailing at high rate all over the world. It is the endocrine disease
where the human body cannot produce insulin hormone, which is the responsible factor for the
transportation of glucose into the cells from the blood circulation. When body fails to produce
insulin, there is a more glucose in the blood, thus causing diabetes (da Rocha Fernandes et al.
2014). There are two principal types of diabetes, known as type 1 diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes develops where the body cannot secrete insulin, and in Type 2 Diabetes, it can
produce insulin but in low amount. Thus, for treatment adequate medication is given, which help
in the secretion of insulin in the body. In the United Kingdom, 90% of the people are facing the
issue of T2DM, and around 8% of the population is having type 1 diabetes (Tillin et al. 2015).
As per the report of the World Health Organization, 2018, there are 3.8 million people diagnosed
with Type 2 Diabetes in the United Kingdom. It is expected that more than 4 million individuals
will be exaggerated by 2025 (Roglic and Norris 2018). It is also evident from the study that half
a million of the case of diabetes have not been diagnosed or reported. In the research of
