This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to foster and enhance the holistic
development and wellbeing of children from birth to 6 years of age.
The unit applies to educators working in a range early education and care service settings.
CHCECE018 Nurture creativity in children
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to nurture creativity in children.
The unit applies to educators who work with children in a variety of education and care services.
All assessments are conducted in accordance with the Wyndham CEC’s Establishing and
Applying Decisions for Satisfactory Completion Procedure. If you cannot undertake the
assessment task at this time, you must discuss this with your Trainer/Assessor before you
commence the assessment task.
Assessment outcomes
The outcomes for all assessment tasks are Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory. If a task outcome is
Not Satisfactory, re-assessment may be negotiated with the Trainer/Assessor. Students may be
re-assessed on two occasions for each assessment task.
When all assessment tasks for a unit of competence have a Satisfactory outcome Competence in
the unit may be recorded.
Appeals
If you are unhappy with an assessment outcome you may appeal the assessment decision. Refer
to Wyndham CEC’s Complaints and Appeals Policy and Procedure.

Project Tasks Booklet Instructions to students
There is one project in this Booklet. Each project has specific instructions that relate directly to
that project and provide direction to you on the project. Read the directions for each project
carefully to ensure you understand what is required.
You can ask your Trainer/Assessor for clarification of the tasks. Your Trainer/Assessor can assist
you with ideas and give you feedback as you work through the projects.
Ensure you write clearly when your project is not typed.
Use a pen to complete the hand written parts of the projects.
If there are separate pages to your project, ensure each page has your name on it and
the name of the project.
In some projects you will be able to use a range of other implements such as paints,
textas, or other materials to meet the requirements of the project.
Attach a coversheet to each project.
Ensure you write your name neatly on each cover sheet.
You must attempt all projects.
Sign your name and date the coversheet for each project when completed.
Email the projects to your Trainer/Assessor as you finish them.
Your Trainer/Assessor will compare your projects to the information in the marking guide
to determine if your projects are satisfactory.
You will be given feedback by your Trainer/Assessor on your projects.
If your outcome is Not Satisfactory you will be able to discuss the options for re-assessment in
accordance with the Wyndham CEC’s Establishing and Applying Decisions for Satisfactory

Project Four – Nurturing creativity in children
A. Plan three learning experiences in your centre for children of varying age groups to
encourage them to initiate their own experiences, collaborate creatively with each other
and to develop techniques and skills for using different materials (including open ended
natural materials) and equipment.
Experiences must include one of each of the following:
1) Music and Movement
2) Construction/architecture/inventions
3) Dramatic/imaginative Play
Prior to implementation of each learning experience, you are required to write up how you will set
up the activity, what resources you will need. This will need to be discussed with your supervisor.
Navigate through the approved learning framework (EYLF) to include the outcomes that respond
to children’s interests, strengths, ideas and curiosity during play
Once you have planned and implemented the learning experiences for your chosen group of
children you are to write one Group learning story on one learning experience and another
observation of your choice on a different experience using the centres template. What
modifications would you make, from the observations taken to stimulate the children’s interest
and involvement?
N.B. If you use a photo of a child’s face in your learning story you will need to obtain permission

Name of experience: jumping with music.
Description of experience:
The activity which has chosen for the children in developing their experience through the
activity are the jumping with the music. The area of jumping is on the flat surfaces which help
the children in increasing the balancing and the coordination. The jumping with the music
activity has included the bouncing and wiggling. The jumping with music is very helpful for
the children and increase the physical experience of the children because it increase the
holistic approach of the children. The holistic approach of the children will enhance though
this activity because the jumping help in body exercise, improve the cardio vascular health,

level, emotional level and the interaction level of the children. I have played the poem in form
of song because the children are very eager to learn the poem and poem also increase their

because they have enjoyed the jumping due to their music. The jumping with the music
increase the motor function and help the body and mind of the children to work together
music help the children in increasing their experience of learning the sounds and the
meaning of the words. The jumping with the music increase the different opportunities for the
children and help the children in increasing their problem solving ability, cognitive growth, self
expression. I have played the rhymes which can connect the sound to the jumping act for
increasing the movement of the children. The children also nurture their creativity in dancing
through this activity by using the props of the jumping. The children in this activity has
enjoyed a lot, I have experience the happiness of the children on her face and that satisfy me
well and provided the opportunity to develop my action in making the such type of activity
more experience full for the children in future.

ability of learning the new skill and increase the engagement of the children in the activity. The
children learn more through the demonstration process so visual aids is very helpful in
increasing the experience of the children through jumping with the music activity.
(4) I have guide the children regarding the proper jumping techniques and help them in
maintaining the synchronise way during the activity. My these experience will help the children

very polite way so that they can share their problem to me without any hesitation.
(9)I will share my enthusiasm by clapping, smiling after the creative effort and encourage the
children also to respect and appreciate the creative effort of the children by tell them also to
clap, smile and shake hands of their team mates during the activity.
(10)No there was no opportunity for children to work alone or self directed or work with a
partner because jumping needs no partner. The working alone also not create enthusiasm in
the children.

The children were asked to make some instrument using the home made things which
make some noises like Bottles, small boxes, pebbles, small stones, rice, small rings,
lentils, dried peas and beans which make sound. The children were also guided to not put
so much things in it and made some space so that the things can shake well and make
better sound. With the home made instruments, children are assisted to shake them with
