INTRODUCTION
Project Management refers to the process which includes various elements such as
initiating, planning, executing, controlling and monitoring a specific project effectively. It has
been analysed that each and every business organisation required to have project management
department in their organisation so that they can attain all the requirements of the company
within stipulated time frame (Heizer, Render and Munson, 2017). The present report is divided
into two main sections, where in the first section Jaguar has been chosen in order to critique and
review various operation management principles. In addition to this, second section is based on
the case study of Portakabin. In this part, implementation of Project Life Cycle is done along
with its critique.
PART 1
1. Introduction of the organisation.
Jaguar is one of the biggest leading British multinational car manufacturer company. Its
headquarter is located in Whitley, Coventry, England. It is the company who mainly manufacture
Jaguar cars until its operations were merged with Land Rover to create Jaguar Land Rover. It has
been identified that the company is an engineering gem and perform there task in an effective
manner with the help of latest technologies and advancement. It has been analysed that company
is facing various issues, which directly or indirectly plays very essential role in order to enhance
and maintain the quality and sustainability of the products within the competitive marketplace.
2. Explanation of Operations vs Operations Management
It has been said that operations define as the activities, functions and procedures of an
organisation which has to be done in an effective manner in order to attain organisational
objectives and goals (Reid and Sanders, 2015). On the other hand, operations management refers
to an area which is mainly concerned with planning, designing, implementing, controlling and
monitoring the process of production as well as redesigning different operations in order to
manufacture goods and services.
