Week 5: Week 5 Activity Perception
Reflection regarding a movie is an individual opinion and cannot be made parallel to any other’s perception. I
have recently watched Spiderman latest movie, Homecoming at the theater. I am very interested in thriller
movies especially Spiderman movies. It was released in the year 2017 and is a leading Marvel Comics
superhero film that is co-produced Columbia Pictures along with Marvel Studios. The movie was directed by
Jon Watts and produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley wrote the
story. The movie was extremely thrilling and had major action sequences from the Battle of New York. I like
the role played by Spiderman, who went on to save the universe and various people from Toomes by
persuasion of Chitauri technology.
The movie run successfully world over creating all the more craze in regards to Spiderman. Crime fighter spirit
of Spiderman had earned him fame, which depicted his return from school life. At the end of the movie
Spiderman is shown to return to his normal school life which I found to be amazing. The shift of Spiderman
from school to real life and then again the transition is what I liked the most also its action scenes which were
very well designed. But on the contrary my friends did not like the movie much as he found the action
sequence to be unbelievable in nature. He did not share similar opinion regarding the movie like me.

Week 6 - Motivation
UK’s 50 best places and Europe’s 100 workplaces to work makes use of extensive motivation along with
productive building strategies. These workplaces in order to enhance productivity makes use of various
engagement practice coupled with human resources practices. These companies have identified that human
resource departments can help build sustainable organisational strategies by way of worker engagement
practices and other techniques for motivation. They align their corporate objectives with those of their jobs
such as to establish growing trends within the organisation. This helps them to reduce costs related to
absenteeism as well as turnover. They build a culture that is conducive towards growth and sustainability for
the organisation. Various departments across the organisation are developed and established in a way and
manner such that they can coordinate to make a joint endeavor towards human resources capability. These
companies are best places to work as they are able to identify and manage capabilities in connection to their
human resources and match objectives. Culture prevalent within these organisations enables establishing
harmonious strategies with those of the organisation.

Week 7 Activity (Group Behaviour and Team at Work)
Case Study: "Why don’t teams work like they’re supposed to?" p.263
Organisational objectives are achieved by employees who strives as teams within structures prevailing for
organisations. Teams within organisations are expected to perform and attain to objectives however, at various
instances they are unable to do so leading to inefficiency within the organisation. In order to conduct and
manage a team there is required tremendous capability and leadership skills. Teams are made up of various
individuals who functions with one another according to set out objectives to achieve a predisposed role
assigned to them. A capable leader is one who conducts the team objectives in a well-planned manner such that
there is greater productivity generated from teams. Often lack of appropriate leadership raises concerns in
teams, which further leads to conflicts amongst individuals. Conflict of interests amongst teams can create
tremendous challenges which in turn might lead to several challenges to accomplish tasks which teams were
designated to perform.
Teams lack in performance standards that they were designated to do due to conflicts and lack of leadership
skills to coordinate efforts. Negotiation is integral criteria amongst teams which once applied can yield
tremendous benefits creating long term sustenance. Hence, for teams to perform well individuals needs to have
an understanding amongst each other with well-coordinated efforts. Such team efforts can lead to creating
tremendous sustainable developments for team motivation which can help attain outcomes for the team.

Answer the following questions:
1. What is the difference between trait and behaviour theories of leadership? are the theories valid?
Leadership theories are multiple and various in nature that are devised to help better understand leadership
practices. Trait theories of leadership is focused on personal characteristics of leaders according to
personal, intellectual, social or physical nature for distinguishing a leader. In such leadership trends leaders
are distinguished from their followers and includes skills for responsibility, trustworthiness, motivation,
assertiveness, confidence and flexibility. Behavioral theories on the other hand are focused on behavioral
trends identifying leaders from non-leaders, which includes nature those are inborn.
2.How can organisations select and develop effective leaders? provide 1 example.
Organisation based leaders are concerned with a diversified range of responsibilities for implementing skills
that are required for attaining objectives for the organisation. An effective leader is developed and built over
a period of time matching with the organisation specific culture which followers will not find difficult.
Leaders are effective if they are able to match characteristics and nature of the organisation, making
followers function. An effective leader is able to motivate their followers, derive productivity from them and
communicate organisational objectives easily to them.

Question 1
Sparks Samantha Parks has several responsibilities while accomplishing her role as the CEO. However, in
case I would had to accomplish her roles then in order to assign projects to individual employees and team
members, I would have had to understand and analyse strengths along with weaknesses of them
individually. Making use of impression management for micromanaging groups would have yield several
benefits. In such a instance it would have been possible to improve her powerbase.
Question 2
The CEO of the Company had selected employees first due to her lenient nature. I could have easily
in such case implemented reward based system to motivate employees. They would then have
necessary levels of freedom for accomplishment of specific tasks.
Question 3
In any type of project undertaking, management needs to make use of effective control and
monitoring procedures. This monitoring and control procedure had been incorporated by Parks for
effective delivery of quality projects. This procedure in turn can lead to strong brand name for the
organisation.
Question 4
Management in top levels are often confused regarding delegation of responsibilities and authority.
Allocation of resources undertaken by senior management often reflects inappropriate delegation of
power and responsibilities. Thus, while allocating resources middle layer of management along with
top level should be taken into discussion.

Question 1
In contemporary management conflicts are regarded to be healthy procedure as well as negotiations.
Conflicts are contradictions within employees of the organisation which causes clashes amongst
thought processes. At various instances in life I had faced immense challenges resulting from
conflicts. When I was at school I had faced conflict situation with my friends while sharing a pencils.
It spoilt my relation with my friend and also led to creation of issues.
Question 2
In cases of conflicts there might be conditions there might be several parties involved. Conflicts can
be solved through negotiation, which can resolve aggrieved parties. Negotiation is a technical conflict
management procedure where conflicts procedure is resolved. In case of conflicts resolution
procedures a specific goal needs to be set.
Question 3
Conflict management procedure can be resolved by negotiation by appropriate management. I faced
conflicts in family, where I had to subdue under pressure to resolve the issue. I was not capable of
establishing my point of view, which led to me facing crisis situation. Through continuous mental
pressure which I had to face.

1. Identify three to five sustaining innovations that have affected you over the past year.
Technology trends in recent years have been extremely high with innovative techniques. Various
innovations have affected me in the past years some of which are Virtual Reality, Twitter, ecommerce
integrated in Smart Phones. These sustainable innovative techniques have led to immense benefits for me.
2. Identify three to five disruptive innovations that have affected you. Did you welcome these
innovations because they were Beneficial’s, or did you have cause to complain?
There have been various disruptive innovation techniques that have affected regular lives. The five major
disruptive innovations are implantables, Self driven automobiles and bots usurp Apps.

Week 12 (Cultures)
Based on your studies of Organisational Behaviour in the past 11 weeks, explain whether
interpersonal skills, motivation, group behaviour, leadership style, conflict management, structure,
predominant leadership style, training and HRM practices are all culturally relative.
Organisational Behaviour includes varied trends are used to conduct employees and achieve
organisational objectives. HRM practices are culturally relative and includes motivation,
interpersonal skills, group behaviour, conflict management, leadership style, structure and so on. A
development culture with HRM strategic fit can be effective by way of appropriate culture. Cultural
connection has capability to establish appropriate organisational behavioral trends. In order to have a
culture that is conducive to practices in HRM practices that are adopted.
