Introduction
Organisations today are facing several issues in terms of reducing employee participation,
lower employee productivity that is affecting the overall organisation performance. In the present
scenario of changes in external environment there are some external issues affecting internal
functioning of organisations. For instance the present covid-19 situation has affected internal
functioning of organisations. Overall employee productivity is affected to some extent because
of this fast changing external environment (Jones, Molitor and Reif, 2019). The present report is
based on discussion of the ways in which overall workforce participation can be improved. There
is analysis of the effective ways of communication to be used by employees with proper social
distancing. The report is based on a reflection assessment and analysis of various issues that can
arise in the course of a organisation.

Scenario:
My name Katerina, I have been working in a group of 5 members. I met other 4 members of my
group on zoom. My lecturer has selected these members for the purpose of this assignment. The
main objective of this activity is to enhance the group participation on online learning platforms.
There are many issues that are arising in that require development of contemporary solutions.
The overall discussion is based on the way to improve workplace participation of employees.
Workplace participation:
Theory and techniques: Fish bone diagram is a scenario that is used for the purpose of analysing
the problems in a structured way. The reducing employee engagement and the present covid-19
scenario has affected the employee mindset in a negative manner (Dahl, Larivière and Corbière,
2017). It is creating a situation to enhance the overall employee participation. There can be use
of fishbone diagram to analyse various solutions to be adopted in the present context.
Visualization of potential causes: fishbone diagram is based on seven different quality tools to
identify the potential causes and identification root cause of problem. There is requirement for
identification of problems, detailed analysis of situation and addressing of quality issues.
In context of organisations, fishbone diagram is very helpful in analysing different phases of a
problematic situation by laying down measures for defining, measuring, analysis, improvement

and control. Each area is further identified and discussed as per the requirements of specific
problem.

Advantage of using fish bone diagram: while working in group assignment when I was assigned
the activity to identify the problems and develop some solutions that are faced in workplace
(Kim, 2018). Using of fish bone framework is one of the crucial tools to be used by employer.
It is used to diagnose the problem before they are manifested so that damages across operational
issues are timey identified and solved.
Disadvantage: There are some of the disadvantages of using fishbone as it does not provide the
basic solution for root causes. There is wastage of time and resources in identification of other
causes that may not be critical to the problem.
Solution workplace participation: After working in group and identification of various methods
that can be some solutions that can lead to enhancement of employee participation. I discovered
that encouraging flexibility can help in increasing employee engagement (Icardi, 2019). Better
relationship between management and employee can help in motivating employees, enabling of
trust and building up of teamwork.
