Executive Summary:
This report is a case study of an acquisition of Company X by Company Z, in which
the different factors that affect organizational behavior and how to use those factors
effectively to implement organizational change is studied. The various behavioral influences
is used to develop strategies through which resistance to change can be overcome and
readiness to change can be increased. Strategic decisions made upon such considerations can
help in effective acquisition of the company and help the management to facilitate the change
in the organization following the acquisition.
Different types of leadership approaches have been identified which can be used to
facilitate the process. Theories from behavioral sciences that can help to understand
organizational behavior has been described which can be used to motivate and facilitate the
change. It is important that the impact of the change to be assessed before implementing the
change. Motivational programs that can be used to increase effectiveness of the employees
have also been described. The analysis has shown a significant lack of engagement of the
employees in the work, and strategies for re engaging them have been outlined. Conflict
management is another vital aspect to facilitate change, and the strategy to use the
communication flow process to support better communication and conflict management has
been identified. Moreover strategies for effective job design to ensure best result have also
been studied. KPI needed to measure organizational performance have been discussed next,
followed by suggestions that can support flexibility to work. In addition, the types of team
working in the organization and the type of horizontal specialization of the organization are
also analyzed. Based on these information 5 steps have been identified that can be used to
manage the change in the organization.

The information shows that change management can be a complicated process that
requires actions taken at various levels of the organizations and the involvement of the
employees as well as management. Understanding organizational behavior helps in effective
organizational change management.
Different recommendations have also been made to facilitate the change process, which

1. Introduction:
1.01 Background:
The following report is based on a case study of a merger/acquisition of Company X,
which is a medium sized organization which employs 3000 employees by a multinational
corporation Company Z Inc. The process of merger however requires several important
considerations regarding organizational behaviors which can promote or challenge the
process of organizational change and organizational change management. The considerations
can include the style of leadership which plays a key role in the motivation of employees and
orienting them to organizational change; behavioral influencers, which affects the individual
as well as group behavior in the organization and thus the readiness for change; relationship
with the stakeholders which helps to determine the strategies to maintain focus on the
responsibilities towards the stakeholders through the organizational change; usage of political
power which can be used to leverage key strategic decisions; reward system which helps in
better participation of employees; motivation and engagement which helps to overcome
resistors to change; communication strategies which support better sharing and transmission
of information; conflict resolution and company culture which helps in the maintenance of a
productive work environment (Mishra 2018).
1.02 Aim/Objective
The aim of the study is to develop a repost on how the proposed merger can influence
the organizational behavior and how the behavior can be managed to ensure effective merger.
The study aims to develop an understanding of the factors that influence organization and
how they can be used more effectively to support the merger (Prakash et al. 2015)
