In your lectures, four rationales for organisational analysis are described.
1 Critically discuss the argument presented by the author(s).
From the particular article, it could be understood that there exists an argument
amongst the different authors with respect to the expansion of various
economical; activities which exist in the society and the manner in which there
exists a continuous debate on how the different social issues along with
environmental issues can be included in the society in order to improve the
overall scenario. The different authors as present have stated that, the disclosure
related to sustainability is very important and there needs to be an improvised
mechanism which will ensure that the sustainability reporting takes place in the
right manner. The relationship between aspects like accounting, society and
organizations using theories have been discussed.
2 What is the method - how do the author(s) convince their readers?
The data collection method which has been adopted in the article is that the
author makes use of various examples of different firms in the United states and
includes and analysis of the different statistical data as well. In addition to this,
semi structured interviews were conducted by various researchers to assist the

different individuals in understanding the balance between society and
accounting. The legitimacy theory along with the signalling theory have been
used to understand the overall connection. Additionally, theories like
Stakeholder theory have also been used. The stakeholder’s theory helps to
understand the role of the disclosures and its importance to the different
organizations whereas the theories which have been used also talk about the
relationship which takes place between the different facades and the conflicts.
3 Drawing on your answers from analysing Q (1) and (2), critically analyse and
match your analysis to the rational given in Lecture 1 for Organisational
Analysis
From the perspective of organizational analysis, it can be understood that, the
particular article assisted in understanding the role of sustainability in a society
and the hypocrisy that surrounds the research. In addition to this, the paper also
included the different hypocrisies and the facades that may be beneficial for the
Corporate social responsibility practices and help in the understanding of the
relationship between accounting, society and organizations. With respect to the
sustainability practice analysis, the following points have been highlighted:
Sustainability reporting assists in gaining insights into the various environmental
and social issues.
There exists a relationship between hypocrisy related to legitimacy and facades
which has been reflected through examples of oil and gas corporations to
understand the research.

The respective literature on the sustainability is not being able to provide a clear
picture on the analysis of how the national culture influences the different kinds
of interpretations which will be resulting to the practices related to
sustainability. The major purpose of the entire research paper is to identify the
different types of mechanisms which is inclusive of the sustainability beliefs
along with perceptions which can be helpful in mediating the overall
