About the case study
The aim of this assignment is to develop a functional and non functional requirement
document and a prototype for the project in MS Access. The report will focus on determining all
the essential requirements associated with the Australian super marketing giant Coles. The
organization has devised an effective scheme for the purpose of encouraging the customer’s
loyalty. In order to register the customers with the organization the customer needs to supply the
name and telephone number. After this the registered customers are assigned with a unique
customer identification number (CIN) that are further attached with customer’s FlyBus card. At
the time of checkout CIN is used so that the purchase value can be recorded within the system.
The supermarket also generates gift by the end of year to three loyal customers who have spent
most of the money. In addition to this the supermarket also tends to award gold coin towards
every customer who spends more than $1000 during the year. The system automatically reset the
total money spent against the CIN on first day of every year.
Functional requirements
The functional requirements of an Australian supermarket giant Coles include the technical
functionality that is associated with the system of Australian system. Functional requirements
ensure that all the basic components associated with the supermarket are defined efficiently. The
basic functional requirements associated with Australian supermarket giant Coles are as follows:
 The customers will be able to register for the scheme
 Customer should provide the name in the system
 The system will require address for each customer
