2.1Assessing own management skills

For working as a general manager at Dorchester Luxury hotels, I
believe that I possess list of skills including management, cognitive,
creative, technical, leadership, organizing as well as planning skills.
These are my capabilities that will enable me to deliver quality
services as a prospective manager to the organization cited here.
Management skills are basic requirements that will enable me to
manage number of activities that will be taken within cited
organization. Managing different functions requires detailed
understanding of theories and concepts of management, that I have
acquired by undertaking research of concept of management with
respect to hospitality business.

Cognitive skills: This includes determining level of awareness
for receiving information and details by an human being. I
have higher level of concentration , that enables my brain to
focus on an event and obtain important inferences from the
same.
Super reasoning skills: This will enable me to provide a brief
explanation of various activities that will be conducted under
my supervision. I am very much innovative, that will enable
me to come with new ideas on regular basis for aligning with
changing conditions of travel and tourism segment. I will be
able to keep myself indulged with researching for finding out
need for change within different functional departments as
list of factors underpin overall change taking place at regular
interval (Galliers, R. D. and Leidne, 2014).

Motivational skills: I also have required knowledge for application and usage of
technological tools and methods. I will thereby be able to provide necessary
guidelines to my subordinates for exploiting benefits of information
technology. Subordinates working under my supervision will be motivated to
perform better and enhance their career. Promotion of brand image will be
done by having constant interaction with our clients through social media.
Communicative skills: I will promote my image as as efficient communicator. I
can easily transfer various information and details from top to bottom and
bottom to top level. Providing effective direction to various subordinates will
enable myself to build my image as that of a good mentor and advisor. Most
importantly, as if I will be designated as a general manager, I will be
responsible for effectively planning various activities and organizing each of
them in appropriate series of work flow. I therefore have a higher level of
confidence that I will be recognized as an capable managerial personnel for
enabling Dorchester Hotel in achieving targeted goals of securing prominent
position in global hospitality environment.
