INTRODUCTION
Personal and Professional Development means through which a person set out aims,
policies and objectives and outcomes related to training and learning. It is important for a person
because it gives the advantage to person. Personal development is a way through which people
can know their abilities and skills, consider their objectives and set some goals to increase their
potential. In this report discuss regarding different approached related to self managed learning.
It is necessary to determine the benefits of self managed learning to a person as well as to an
organisation (Avalos, 2011). Under this mentions report discuss about needs of own
development and some activities are necessary to meet them. It is important to identify many
opportunities to meet with the present and future needs. To execute a development plan, there is
a requirement of some process and activities.
TASK 1
1.1 Self-managed learning approaches
Self managed learning refers to a technique under which people are focused towards
maximising their competency or working ability in which field they are highly dedicated to
achieve the success. People are regularly trying to learn many new things for an instance
behaviour, different culture, perception etc. There are many different approaches to the self
managed learning that a person can be adopted:
Visionary approach- With the help of this approach, an individual and know and
understand about the future trends and also know how person can developed the self managed
learning. From this approach, person can identify its future requirements and increase its level of
competency. This approach is related with the future trend (Black and Plowright, 2010).
Visionary approach helps in developing flexibility in a person which is good or beneficial for
his/her.
Opportunistic approach- It is a second main approach of self managed learning. If any
individual is opportunist, then it can enhance its learning level at a large scale. With the help of
this approach, person can develop a sense.
These two major approaches related to self managed to impart in personal and
professional learning. In travel and tourism sector, these two approaches can be very helpful in
enhancing the motivation as well as confidence level.

1.2 Methods under which lifelong learning in professional and personal could be pleased
A lie long learning us related with the regular learning that can be impart to the context of
professional. With the help of this people can determine their capabilities, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats. To encourage a person, there are many different methods of personal
and professional learning. To encourage an individual, this life long learning a person can
believe on the setting of short term as well as long term goal which help a person to meet an side
over its abilities, skills and capabilities (Brody and Hadar, 2011). The long and short term help
people to render the direction to a person and a way related with the lifelong learning can be
open for long period of time. There are two different ways through which life long learning in
context with professional and personal could be assessed:
SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats )
From examining the personal SWOT, it can be helpful with the professional learning
from using some tools and techniques such as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and
Self- reflective learning. The self reflective learning refers to take review some views, actions,
opinions and personal understanding. Sit will helps in professional development.
Self Reflective learning- It helps in learn the new skills, knowledge and abilities at
workplace and also helps in developing some personal skills related to my work which is
assigned to me. The continuing Professional Development refers to an idea, tools and techniques
through which person can develop some learning and also evaluate its effective and efficient
learning.
1.3 Advantages of self-managed learning to organisation and individual
Benefits to an organisation
The major benefit that can be help through a business firm is that organisation gets a
more responsible and a capable person who has an ability to handle some authority and some
important duties that manager can pass to it. If an organisation has a dedicative person with some
skills, capabilities and knowledge, then it will be beneficial for business (Bolton, 2010). If a
company can trust on its employees then in this case, manager can include them in the process of
decision making. A business firm has large number of staff members and they have an attitude
self- managed learning then in this case their skills can be enhanced and with the help of this
employees can develop their brand as a leader of market.
