INTRODUCTION Personal and professional Development Plan (PDP) is a formal method by which anindividual can work to set his own goals and action plans. It provides clearly defines activities,learning methods, time-lines, guidance from mentors etc (McLeod, 2004). With the help of thisreport, identification of learning styles, self-managed activities and time management has beenmade to evaluate personal and professional goals. TASK 11.1Approaches to self-managed learning and their suitabilitySelf managed learning is very integral process where setting of initiation is planned. Thegoals are defined on the basis of personal orientation and achievement. Given below are someapproaches to self-managed learning:Learning through research: Resources and learning environment are provided as abenefit to support system. Learning from others: Mentoring and coaching are the best ways by which knowledgeand skills to work out things can be taught (Burke, 2002). Seminars and conferences: It helps in developing one's interaction skills. Moreover,better communication among public can be enhanced. Social networks: Use of internet and social websites such as Facebook, twitter etc. helpsto create group. It benefits one to share ideas and new things.Different learning stylesLearning styles developed by Honey and Mumford with the work of Kolb shows fourdifferent preferences:5
Activist: They are one who learn by performing actions. Being open minded in nature,they involve themselves in new experiences.Theorist: The learning which is received from understanding of concepts and theories.The analysis is made by own logical approaches. Pragmatist: They believe in putting their own ideas into work. Being experimental innature, they believe in trying out things (Blandford, 2012). Reflector: The actions are performed by doing the repeated things. Graphic displays are used for understanding and knowing about particularsubjects. It is taken by using various tools such as charts, diagrams, illustrations,handouts, and videos. These sources act as supportive tools for them.Aural Learners: Hearing the information which are Aural (or auditory) is another styleof learning. Lectures, in this regards are considered as the best source of gettinginformation. Reading and Writing Learners: Information displayed at words is given to reading and6
