INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development is the way by which an individual makes some
goals, strategies to improve their skills, competence, professional knowledge and effectiveness of
work (Driessen and van Tartwijk, 2013). The PDP plan of Tesco employee is made to define the
activities, time frame and outcomes to meet the targets and goals.
LO 1
1.1 Approaches of self-managed learning
Seminar and conferences: Attending the seminars is the best way of learning because in
those seminars people share their experiences and ideas. This will help the individual in
improving his personal skills and also enhance the development of personality (Savery, 2015).
Further, it will improve the confidence of people in speaking in public, which is very important
from Tesco's point of view.
Internet: Knowledge can be gained by surfing on different websites related to skill
development. Internet is the place where people gets socialize. The knowledge can be gained and
further shared among the employees.
1.2 General way of lifelong learning
The learning style used is Kolb, the perspective used is very holistic (Goldrick, Stevns
and Christensen, 2014). Concentrate experience: This is the first stage which can be used in learning by listening
the experience of others. Reflective observation: It is good to observe people and listen to their perspectives and
after that make the decision. Abstract conceptualization: The individual has to act on the intellectual understanding
related to the situation. The idea of other people is analysed and then applied on the
situation.
Active experimentation: The ability of people to influence other people is the risk here,
but proper learning plan must be made and after then implemented.

2.1 Skills required to meet objectives Time management skills: Time need to be managed to achieve the goal set by Tesco.
Any individual can also manage time by making a list of work to be done and follow
them strictly. Communication skills: For the employee, it is very important that he should talk with
full confidence (Brannen, Moore and Mughan, 2013,). The communication should be
clear and easy to understood.
Leadership skills: All staff need some sort of motivation, so the individual must have
leadership skills. He can give proper guidance to the team member in reaching the
objectives.

3.1 Learning against original aims and objectives
The development plan of Tesco was to increase the abilities and skills of their employees.
Some activities include different skills required for personal as well as professional development.
Reading articles, journals and books is an activity, which solved my problem-solving skills. By
listening conferences and attending seminar improved my listening abilities (Laurillard and et.al.,
2013.). E-learning means learning with the help of online videos. This will give some tips
regarding the improvement of marketing strategies. Rise all these skills is very helpful in
achieving the goals and objectives.

4.1 Solution of work based problem
Tesco sometime faces problems which is due to the mismanagement. Some issues will be
related to the revenues and others will be related to the disputes among the workers. Employee
will feel that they are financially inferior (Voss, 2014.). To solve this problem, the company
started giving incentives and additional payments for their work. By attracting more consumers,
the revenues can be increased.
4.2 Communication system at different level
In Tesco, the communications system is divided into three levels i.e. top-level managers,
middle level managers and low-level managers. To communicate from the top level, employee
require to send a formal mail (Alam, 2013.). The middle managers act as a mediator. By meeting
or sending them message, employee can communicate to them. The low-level managers are the
supervisors of each department. Employee can communicate with them personally or by sending
them proper email.
4.3 Evaluation of time management strategies
By using planning tool, the evaluation can be done. This tool improves the productivity,
which results in more profit. This will be helpful in getting small and big goals set by the
company (Punt and et.al., 2016). Further, by carrying out the internal and external audit time to
time, the evaluation can be done. The audit will give the accurate details of the procedures
followed by company. So, if any mistake in the process is there, it can be improved by this.

CONCLUSION
From this report, it has been concluded that some personal and professional skills are
mandatory to work in Tesco like communication, time management skills etc. further it can be
concluded that strategies of time management is very essential in completing the work on time. It
also stated that kolb's learning style is very important in improving the learning which is lifelong.
