INTRODUCTION
Personal skills are recognised and defined as a certain soft skills which are not easy to
teach and learn they are more of an on-going an inbuilt ability which is gathered by an individual
from their past experiences, learning’s and internal abilities (Bollen, Euwema and Munduate,
2016). The personal skills are also known and formerly notified as interpersonal skills such as
adaptability motivation problem solving abilities analytical skills dependability etc. On the other
hand set of capabilities which are required to be developed by an individual is professional skills
which are certain career competencies that are often not taught or acquired as a part of The
course work but the individual is required to complete and earn their professional skills
certifications and evidences. Both professional and personal skills are important for or a person
to excel in their career and provide the best performance while working in the workplace
amongst other colleagues.
The current report is developed on such personal and professional identities which enables
a professional and an employee of an organisation to perform in the best effective manner and
providing the most appropriate outcomes which are expected out of them. The report is divided
into two parts where the first section is a reflective log. In reflective log effective communication
abilities are discussed understood along with their impacts on workplace behaviour when
practiced by the professional. On the other hand negotiation and influencing skills is also
evaluated and there impacts are identified in achievement of predetermined objectives.

Demonstrate an understanding of effective communication skills and their
effect on workplace behaviour.
Communication involve exchanges of ideas, thought, opinions and it is the act of
conveying messages through gestures, symbols and it play a major role in every business
enterprise. It is necessary that an effective communication should be taken place in an
organisation as it determines the future success and help in accomplishment of goal in a short
span of time (Kochan and Lipsky, 2018). It is a fundamental principle for the existence of human
being and also for a business entity. An excellent communication skill provides proper directions
to the subordinates and facilitates smooth operations of a business in an effective and efficient
manner. I have learnt a lot at a workplace as effective communication help in avoiding confusion

and misunderstandings and determine a systematic working procedure which ensures greater
success in future.
It is necessary that the message that is being conveyed should be concise and must have
proper clarity that could be easily understood by the receiver. It also promotes new and creative
ideas which help in taking fast and accuracy of decision makings and help me in learning a lot of
things from senior authority and employees. Another most important thing is that I learned is to
be calm and patient so that there is mutual understanding among the people and also it promotes
a sense of team spirit. This enhances the productivity and improves the overall operations of a
business and also it promotes the principle of unity of command in a workplace and ensure a
greater amount of success in future (Heng, Abdullah and Talif, 2016).
I have understood that an effective interaction is an essential ingredient in an organisation
which ensure greater transparency and accountability and thus provide an enormous growth
opportunity within the market. There is various professional working in an organisation but it
provides a greatest benefit that being humble and patience is a key to achieve a success and also
introduction of new ideas and thoughts help us to take an efficient decision making that aids in
attainment of goal in an effective and efficient manner. I also learnt that active listening is more
important than speaking as it cultivates a best decision as it develop an interest in interaction
among the both parties such as sender and receiver and thus it ensures greater transparency. I
learnt form seniors that positive body language is also a part of communication that includes
erect posture, eye contact and active listening a small smile on face develop a positive attitude
and also it is helpful for me to maintain better relations with colleagues and promote a sense of
team spirit. This promotes a positive reputation and aids in maintaining good networks which
help in developing a positive environment in a workplace. I learnt that an effective and efficient
communication play a vital role and aids in achieving task and facilitate smooth flow of activities
(Oetzel, 2017).
I analysed that the top manager in an organisation has an effluent communication skill as
it divides the roles and responsibilities among the subordinates in accordance to their
specialisation so that they could work with greater zeal and efficiency and also produce a desired
level of output. I think this is one of the best methods as it promotes a positive atmosphere where
employees work with potential that lead to achievement of goal. Also, I observed that the ideas
and opinions of employees are taken into consideration which help in taking fast decisions and

also make them feel that their presence is significant and make them feel delighted. This increase
the level of job satisfaction employee retention for a long period of time. This also develop a
positive atmosphere in a workplace and friendly behaviour which facilitate proper coordination
and cooperation. In a workplace, the manager makes us familiar with rules and regulations,
policies and procedures with proper clarity and guidance so that there is not sort of confusion and
conflicts. This helps in achievement of business objectives and develops a positive atmosphere in
an organisation and provides an opportunity to grow and an effective way to beat the competitors
that increase the productivity and profitability in an organisation (Herbst, Dotan and Stoehr,
2017).
Another way to improve communication skills in a workplace is feedback that is received
from clients as it renders various suggestions and proper method which in turn improve the
overall working procedure and also enhance the productivity. I analysed that an effective
communication promotes a sense of team spirit and provide an effective solution of complex
issues and develop a fair culture in a workplace. This provides a clear direction of action as there
is reduction of turnover of employees and equals a highly successful of a business in an efficient
manner. Communication also develop a better innovation in a business as it brings
transformation in a workplace by considering the ideas of everyone and thus it builds a strong
team which help in attainment of goal in a respective time period.
I observed that an effective communication help in redressing the problems in an effective
manner and also proper strategy help in avoiding duplication of activities and thus promote the
vast growth of a business (Thompson, 2018). Also, it boosts the morale of employees and build
trust which ensure greater job satisfaction as they are highly committed of the goal of an
organisation. I learn that a proper communication strategy helps in creating proper relationships
with clients by understanding their needs and requirements and also aids in mitigating any sort of
confusion and misunderstandings and develop a good network. This increases the productivity
and generates greater success in future and help in ensuring greater transparency and
accountability in a workplace. Therefore, an excellent communication skill promotes an
enormous growth opportunity and help in accomplishment of task within a short span of time in
an effective and efficient manner.

Determine the understanding of effective negotiation and influencing skills
has been applied so as to achieve predetermined objectives.
An effective negotiation can be better understood as the interaction process between two
parties in order to find an effective solution that help in accomplishment of goal in a respective
time period. In other words, it is a technique that emphasise on removing the conflicts from a
workplace that render an alternative solution of minimising the stress and ensure peace and
happiness in a workplace. I learned that an effective negotiation provides a way to maintain a
good relation with clients who in turn increase the sales and profitability in an organisation. One
skill that I was highly influenced towards negotiation is to be neutral and impartial that wins the
heart of customers. In addition to this, the negotiator should be smart and tactful who could cope
with pressure and provide a substitute to reach a conclusion as a result, which help in
accomplishment of task in an effective and efficient manner (Jordaan, 2016).
In simple terms, I understood that negotiation provide the way of dealing with others and
create a greater influence by its acts and behaviour that ensure a greater success in an
organisation. I believe that negotiation is the best method which accounts an agreement with
parties as it considering the opinions of everyone in an organisation and help in achieving
predetermined goals at a workplace. This promotes new and innovative ideas and help intaking
best decisions which provide sustainable advantage to the firm. I learnt that creating good
relations with colleagues and engaging employees in decision making help in bringing proper
coordination in a workplace. Another major aspect that I observed is that it also promotes the
interest of stakeholders that render creative and innovative ideas and provide sustainable
development in a long run. The increase the profitability and create goodwill in a workplace. I
learned proper planning and organising is significant in an organisation and also analysing the
problem so as to find an effective solution which help in goal accomplishment within a limited
period of time. Moreover, I believe that a collaboration and teamwork in case of negotiation
provide a good atmosphere that provides cooperation and mutual understandings in a workplace.
It is necessary to maintain proper reliability and ethical standards by promoting trust as
well as interpersonal skills of negotiators create a positive atmosphere and thus inculcate good
relations that help in generating greater success in future. I analysed that an effective decision

making skills along with problem solving skills render a contribution towards the
accomplishment of goal in an effective and efficient manner. I also learned that an effective
communication plays a major role during negotiation as it eliminates misunderstandings and
encourage the participation of subordinates in decision making process which improve the
overall operations of a business and led to accomplishment of task in a respective time period
(Kang and Yun, 2016). Therefore, it has been analysed that an effective negotiation is important
in an organisation which assist the firm in rendering a best solution and lead to achievement of
business objectives in a predetermined manner.
CONCLUSION
The section of the report is a reflective log focusing over communication abilities and
effective communication abilities an individual hold as a professional which helps them and their
in organisation in several aspects and in attaining the ultimate objective of the company.
Effective communication abilities allow the individuals to perform and behave in the most
appreciative manner which influencers the behaviour of the organisation and improves its
productivity because of the clear messages delivered to each individuals by interacting
potentially. The influence of effective communication on the workplace and its behaviour is
clearly visible on the betterment and Development took place in work environment and
profitability of the company.
