INTRODUCTIONPersonal and professional development (PDP) is defined as the plan made improvingexisting skills and capabilities. Activities those are included under PDP supports in enhancingself awareness and identity and developing talent and potential. These activities also supports inbuilding human capital and facilitating employability in the entity. Quality of life is alsoenhanced through this and acquisition of skills and knowledge is done. It supports for careeradvancement and personal development. PDP plans supports in increasing confidence in existingskills and gaining qualities and attributes for developing career of own choice. Present reportdescribes about significance of personal and professional development plan in health care sectTASK 1Comparison of personal valuesPersonal values and principles supports in delivering better and effective services topatients. National Health Service (NHS) is a public sector organization that renders health careservices to the people (NHS UK. 2016). Personal values help me in delivering effective servicesto patients in the organization. I believe that it becomes my moral and ethical responsibility tocomplete my assigned work in effective way. Some of my own principles and values that areposses by me are as mentioned :- I am ambitious completing my work and gaining success in my career. I follow disciplineand I am committed towards my work. I believe in giving equal opportunity to staff member forperforming their work. I am hard worker and loyal towards my work and believe in doing mybest. I give respect to my subordinates and seniors and behave with courtesy. I believe that nodiscrimination should be made with any individual at the work place on the grounds of sex, race,religion, ethnicity and financial status. I am strictly against the racial, ethnic and sexualcomments. Abuse of any individual is strictly prohibited and I am accountable for ensuring thatno individual should be harmed and abused in the organization. I believe in giving equal rights toindividuals and maintaining confidentiality of information related to the patients. Culture: - beliefs, values, attitude and norms which are prevailing in the society give impact onprinciples and behavior of an individual. Family, ethnicity, beliefs and education affectspersonal values and principles. In addition to that employment conditions, age, gender and lifeevents also impacts principles and values that are possessed by the individual. Religious beliefs: - traditional and religious values possessed by an individual also influenceprinciples and values.Age, gender and ethnicity: - These elements also influence principles and beliefs possessed byan individual. Political views and ethical background: - It also affects the principles and values and due to thatthoughts and behavior of an individual gets influenced. Personal experience: - It also influences the personal values and principles and due to that overallbehavior and personality gets influencedInfluence of personal culture and experience Personal culture and experience impact own role in supporting users of services in healthcare setting. Beliefs and norms that exist in society affect the personal values and beliefs of anindividual. In addition to that, advice and suggestions given by family members also affects thevalues and principles of an individual. Some values and principles include equal rights, diversity,confidentiality and protection from abuse and harm (Zwart, Korthagen and Attema-Noordewier,2015). 6 C that are used in health and social care for delivering care and support to individual areas Care, Compassion, Communication, Courage, Commitment and Competence. Previousexperience that has been gained also impacts the current services and care provided to theindividuals. Beliefs and ethnicity and cultural values also affect the principles and personalvalues of an individual. I believe in protecting individuals at the health care setting from abuseand harm so that better care and support can be provided to them. In addition to that, I amaccountable for ensuring that confidentiality and rights of patients should be secured andinformation related to them should be kept confidential and protected. New developments and changes New developments that are happening in health care industry are supporting in renderingbetter care and support to people. New modifications includes legislation, policies, priorities and4

research and it is supporting in enhancing standards of services which are provided to individualsin health care sector. Some legislation that has been developed is as mentioned:-Mental capacity act 2005According to the guidelines mentioned under this act, empowerment and protection aregiven to people who are unable to take decisions of their own. It supports the individuals inplanning their future and protection is given to adults who are unable to take decisions on theirown (Bogomaz, Kozlova and Atamanova, 2015). It also offers protection to the care workers tomake decisions on behalf of people who lack mental capacity and are in need of care that isrestrictive. In addition to that, the act enables the individuals in making their own decisions aboutmedical treatment that is required by them. Moreover, the act provides framework thatencapsulates previous good practices. Equality act 2010This regulation supports in protecting the individuals against any kind of discriminationwhich is made with them. This act also saves a person from harassment and abuse. It is assertivethat no differences should be made with any individual on the grounds of sex, age, religion,ethnicity and it also supports in protecting individuals from differences that are being made withthem (Owen, Fox and Bird, 2016). Health and social care act 2012According to the guidelines mentioned in the act, freedoms have been given to NHS formaking improvements in quality of care that are rendered to the individuals. This act alsosupports in providing a regulator to promote economic, efficient and effective provisions. Care standard act 2012As per this act distinction between nursing and residential homes has been eliminated andthe entire health care settings are now referred as the Care home. Now health care authorities andsocial service departments are not accountable for inspecting care homes. In addition to that,changes in personal values occur due to overcoming tension between personal values andprinciples of good practices. Along with these differences relating to values of others also affectthe personal values. Codes of practices that are carried out at the entity are as follows:-Protecting the rights of individuals who are taking services in health care setting.
