INTRODUCTIONPersonal and professional development can be defined as the process through the help ofwhich individual entirely comprehend the given task or operations as well as evaluate the newapproaches to carry out the work so that level of performance can be improved. In the presentstudy, researcher focuses on evaluating the self-managed learning and the purpose of lifelonglearning for attaining future success in corporate life (Cross, 2003). Thereafter, report illustratethe activities that HR manager of a hospitality firm should undertake in order to meet the futureand current needs and wants. In this regard, personal development has been framed through thehelp of which HR manager at Holiday Inn will enhance the current proficiency as per therequired future proficiency. Lastly, various communication styles and has been discussed inorder to overcome different issues occurred within the functioning of Holiday Inn. Along withthis, significance of time management strategies has been highlighted for managing owns workas well as encouraging other people in the organisation to carry out work in efficient manner.TASK 1 ESSAYThere are range of approaches available to an individual which helps in enhancing ownleading and development. Social networking sites:Constantly increasing use of social networking sites, people are able to acquire widerange of information about different which can be fruitful in context to organisational workingprocess. However, through the help of this approach individual can easily gather variousinformation or data and enhance the skills and abilities as per the current trends and environmentso that knowledge can be improved regarding several dimensions (Parker and et. al, 2001). Seminars and conferences: Under this approach, individual able to learn new and valuable things by listening andparticipating. However, being a management employee I feel confident enough to attend suchseminars where I can brush up my basic skills and abilities. As well as while looking thepresenter’s attributes I can enhance my presentation skills. Internet:It is the best source of enhancing self-managed learning (Davies, 2005). However, it isnot only considered as the platform for entertainment but also for improving the knowledge andskills. By the means of this, I can understand the capabilities and skills required to become a1

human resource manager so that I can take initiatives and enhance the skills while studying at themanagement level. There are several learning styles through the means of which individual can learn newthing and follows them to attain future growth and benefits such as visual, aural, verbal, physical,logical, social and solitary (Skok and Dolinsek, 2013). However, these are some of the majorleaning styles through the means of which an individual can learn numerous things. Further, useof pictures, images and spatial understanding one can learn by visualising things. On the otherhand, listening music or sound helps in aural learnings. In the linguistic learning style individualprefers to using words in speech as well as writing. Therefore, these are some of the majorlearning styles which are used by various individual in their lifelong learnings.In regard to lifelong learning and development is important for the person to undertakedifferent sources. In this context, individual should focus on identifying own strengths andweaknesses so that area of improvement can be identified and accordingly potential measurescan be employed. Furthermore, assistance from experience personnel can be taken who assufficient amount of knowledge and skills regarding management job roles (Brine and feather,2003). However, working as a HR manager in Holiday Inn I always try to rate my learning levelwith the help of learning curve so that it can easily identify the area in which I am respondingpositively. Along with this, I focuses on using various books, journals and online article toenhance my knowledge about managing workforce so that can carry out my job role in effectivemanner. A person emphasising on lifelong learning may contribute more in organisationalproductivity. There are several benefits of self-managed learnings to the individual and organisationthat can play crucial role in attain desired results for both. However, in case of individual, self-managed learnings motivates employees to enhance their skills and abilities as per current trendsand environment (Switzer and King, 2008). Moreover, with the help of this, individual couldeasily develop ability of managing critical corporate situations and work process in appropriatemanner so that level of performance can be improved. In addition to this, self-managed leaningsprovide confidence to the employees so that they can make smart and effective decisionsregarding different situations. While in case of organisation, self-managed learnings minimizesthe opportunities to transfer learning from one aspect to another as individual are capable enoughto carry out their work in effective manner.
