Creating the question
Brief explanation of the nursing intervention (no more than 1 paragraph):
Dementia is a neurological disorder that significantly cause disability and lead
to dependency in affected individuals. The diagnosis of dementia in elderly
individual is challenging as it leads to decline in cognition, poor balance and
gait and loss of social functions. All these changes seriously affect dementia
patient’s capacity to engage in activities of daily living (ADL) (Li et al., 2019).
Regular physical exercise intervention has been found to improve balance,
motor function and performance of ADLs (Zeng et al., 2016). This is relevant to
home nursing care for dementia because physical activity planning and ADL
skill training can be implemented at home

Study Aim: to determine the treatment effects of exercise programs on cognition, ADL, and
depression in patients with dementia.
Study Population: The study included
patients without any age restriction and
diagnosis of dementia according to
diagnostic criteria

The research was done using
systematic review method by
systematically searching for RCT
studies in PubMED, Embase and
Cochrane library. The search terms
used included exercise or training
and dementia or Alzheimer’s
disease.
The screening for article was done
throughout November 2018 and data
collection and quality assessment
was done by 2 authors. The quality
assessment was done using Jadad
scale.
