Organization: Saudi Arabian Oil Company
Role and Designation during the time: Telecommunications field engineer
CE 2.2 Project Background
CE 2.2.1 Characteristics of the project
The project was based on the aspect of installation of IP based CCTV system for the
Manifa ISF administrative building and the gate number 1. The system is to be controlled and
monitored with the help of a below location system framework and will be recorded for a period
of ninety days. I was responsible for the system to be connected with a dedicated network of IP
which will provide the organisation to monitor the Saudi Aramco corporation network with ease.
The project has been completed by following all the standards of project completion. The
complete system consisted of eleven indoor cameras for the administration building. The
cameras has been installed at all the entry points and the exit points. There are also several
cameras with dome shape with one and two lens specification.

CE 2.2.2 Objectives developed for the project
For the completion of the bet quality work for the project I had set up the following list of
objectives for the project:
To provide a closed circuit based on the cameras.
To post cameras at all the points of the building so that no blind spot can be found.
To connect all the cameras within a single IP network so that the network can be
monitored easily.
To provide a monitoring sector in the organisation where the cameras feed will be
returned.
To make a logging system for the cameras so that the security measure can be
controlled and the sharing of data within the organisation.
CE 2.2.3 My area of work
For the duration of the project I was responsible for the connection of all the security
cameras in the facility. I was working as the telecommunication field engineer for the complete
duration of the project. Thus, I was able to provide my team with the best direction for the
completion of the project and to complete the project in time.

CE 2.2.5 My responsibilities throughout the project
I was responsible for the overlooking of all the work of the connection of the cameras and
the setting up of the complete system at the organisation. I had helped in the connection of the
different modules of the system. I was responsible for the connection of the eleven cameras
around the complex of the administrative building and then configuring them to connect into the
same IP network so that the camera feed can be transferred back to the main frame of the
organisation for successful storing of the data.

CE 2.3 Distinctive Activity
CE 2.3.1 Comprehending the theory of the project
I was in charge of the complete project for the installation of the security cameras at the
administrative facility of Manifa ISF administration building. I had also covered the facility’s
gate number 1 in the area under surveillance. I had configured the CCTV cameras so that they
would be connected to the same IP so that the video transferring can be done easily and without
any hindrance. I had also configured the IP CCTV System so that the camera feeds can be
monitored remotely with the help of Saudi Aramco corporate network. I had requested for the
use of two different kind of CCTV cameras which are both of IP based working. The two
cameras chosen by me uses the property of dedicate network switch for the transmission of the
videos and control streams.
CE 2.3.2 Engineering knowledge and skills applied in the project
For the complete duration of the project I had helped my team members in guiding them
with the installation procedures. I had helped the team as the telecommunication field engineer
for the complete project. I had helped in the working of the technical properties of the project
and the following of the complete timeline of the project to provide the best quality project at the
designated deadline. I had conducted many of the team meetings with my superiors and my team
member for the discussion of any kind of problems which were being faced during the project
implementation. I had also provided the best quality working procedure of my
telecommunication field engineer skills for the project to deliver the best quality project. I had
requested for the specification of the storage device and the specification of the internet speed of
the network that is being used for the connection of the CCTV cameras in the organisation.

CE 2.3.3 Accomplishment and task performed
I had used dome cameras which worked with single lens recording and dual lens
recording facility for specific location based requirement. I had used cat 6 cable for the
connection of the cameras to the dedicated switches. I had set up a remote monitoring centre
where all the camera feeds can be monitored easily by security personnel. I had connected 5
cameras to send uplink signal to telecom room and 6 cameras to send uplink to telecom
equipment room. I had used pan tilt zoom property based cameras for the outdoor surveillance. I
had specifically requested my clients for the approval of a dedicated data stream network for the
CCTV cameras for the removal of any kind of interference from the other network using devices.
I had conducted a research of all the cameras and the equipment’s used for the complete project
and provided the complete report to the organization at the end of the project.

CE 2.3.4 Identified issues and their solutions
2.3.4.1 Issues
The issue which I had faced during the implementation of the system at the facility was
the inability to store the videos and the correct transferring of the videos to the data server. There
was another problem which arose was the production of a blind spot around the facility.
2.3.4.2 Solutions
The video transmission problem was due to the problem of connectivity of the cameras of
the system. I had missed the connection of all the cameras with the same IP address. After the
problem arose I rechecked all the cameras separately and configured them with a separate
internet connection with a separate IP than the ones being used at the facility. This helped to be
useful as the video transmission of the cameras requires a steady flow of internet. After that I had
checked the spanning view of the cameras so as to remove any kind of blind spot of the facility.
CE 2.3.5 Plan to produce creative and innovative work
For the simplification of the storing of the data in the data server I had devised an
innovative process. I found that the eleven cameras of the system is storing the data separately. I
improvised on the videos to collectively compile the videos of the eleven cameras and store them
under the daily date folders. This helped in the reduction of the spaces the videos would be
requiring for the storing in the data base.
CE 2.3.6 Collaborative work
I had collaborated with my team members for the implementation of the complete system
at the administrative building. The cameras were put up in such a way so that minimum amount
of area was left out for the blind spots in the buildings. Any person coming in or going out of the

facility would be recorded on videos cameras and the feed will be stored at the server for future
reference for a period of maximum ninety days.
CE 2.4 Project Review
CE 2.4.1 Project Overview
The project consisted of eleven cameras to be installed around the facility of the
administrative building. The system would be able to keep the data for a maximum period of
ninety days. The estimation for the complete project was met according to planned report
presented during the initiation of the project. I had helped in the following of the project
requirements by the client to provide them with the best quality work. The total space which is to
be required for the storing of the data for ninety days has been considered to be 8 terra byte
which has been considered to be enough for the organisations. This has been recommended
based on the quality of the video that is to be recorded by the cameras.
CE 2.4.2 My contribution to work
For the complete duration of the project I had taken care of the proceedings of the
project. I had helped in the connection of the complete system with the organisations framework
for the returning of the feedback to the data base and the subsequent configuration of the system.
I had helped my team mates for the completion of the project and also in the following of the
timeline of the project. The following of the timeline of the project helped in the delivery of the
complete project within the client’s deadline.
