CE 2.1 Project Information
Name of the project: Developing Advance Cam Operated Hammer
Location of the project: [PLEASE FILL]
Project Duration: [PLEASE FILL]
Organization: [PLEASE FILL]
Role and Designation during the time: Team Member
CE 2.2 Project Background
CE 2.2.1 Characteristics of the project
I targeted the industries in manner to produce a product that can be popular among the
industries and can be operated by most of the industries. In present time the productivity of the
industries depends on the type of machines they have been utilizing for the production. I
analysed that most of the industries producing products need hammering, forging, cutting and
many more through assigning the employees and staffs for accomplishing these operational
activities. Accomplishing these activities consume lots of human effort and time that
alternatively impact the safety of the work force. I suggested to develop a model of the
automated hammer that can be operated through utilizing the electricity or less effort. The
developed project can be operated through DC motor or through rotating a lever attached to the
shaft that will alternatively lead the movement of the proposed model and hammering can be
accomplished after altering the speed of the hammering.

CE 2.2.2 Objectives developed for the project
The primary focus of the project was to develop an innovative project or product that can
be popular among the industries and safety of the individual can be enhanced. I set the following
objectives for the successful delivery of the project:
To develop a product that can be used within the industries at high rate
To enhance the security of staffs involved in hard work operational activities
To keep the electricity consumption minimum
To allow manual and automated operating systems
To keep the budget of the product low enough to be utilized by the industries
To enhance the production and output of the industries
CE 2.2.3 My area of work
I had to analyse the forging industry and make sure about the working environment and
efforts being driven within the industries while employees or staffs hammer or forge the work
piece. I executed the literature analysis for the identification of the practices and ways in which
earlier practices had been driven for considering the accomplishment of such project. The project
had two phases including development and assembling of the designed model, and electrical
connection. I incorporated the DC motor within the hammering model that is associated with a
lever and pulley connected via belt allowing the hammering process to be executed whenever the
motor started. I used 12V battery for operating the DC motor in manner to restrict and limit the
electricity consumption.

CE 2.3 Distinctive Activity
CE 2.3.1 Comprehending the theory of the project
Analysing the literature available on the internet database for analysing the current
practices and previous approaches driven by other researchers for the development of similar
machine was one of the major approach towards setting an appropriate strategy of focusing
areas. The designed model can be used for hammering the work pieces within the industries
without any human effort and keep on producing the products without any obstacle. The
assembly of the parts of the proposed project was the crucial part for raising the enough speed
and torque that can alternatively result in successful and efficient hammering process. The
proposed design would be efficiently converting the electrical energy into mechanical energy
that can be used for producing enough torque that can reshape the work pieces in the industries.
CE 2.3.2 Engineering knowledge and skills applied in the project
I implemented my general electrical knowledge and core mechanical engineering skills
for the development of the system that can be helpful in accomplishing the hammering related
activities within the industries without any additional human effort. I assembled a large pulley
with the DC motor implemented within the entire system in a manner that it can efficiently
transfer the power and produce enough torque that can lead to reshaping the work pieces.
Thereafter, I connected the shaft with the large pulley in manner to be applicable for achieving
enough lateral motion that can alternatively result in efficient spinning of the shaft for retaining
the continuous torque while hammering the work piece. I connected the other end of the hammer
to the rod attached to the shaft with the help of the mid swinging arrangement that was helpful in

CE 2.3.3 Identified issues and their solutions
2.3.4.1 Issues
The work piece being used within the industries had been of very high temperature and
so the materials being used for the hammer and the bed made of iron plating were not very
effective as they were being destroyed after a little use. The another issue was to restrict the
budget of the project as the target market was the industries those are in the business of
producing products those need reshaping through hammering and cutting. I identified that the
development of the torque that is capable enough for reshaping the work pieces and should be
similar to that is produced by the human efforts and labour.
2.3.4.2 Solutions
I used alloy of bronze and iron rather than the common iron for bedding the platform of
striking the work pieces that was capable of holding the enough load after hammer strike on the
work piece. I used the DC motor that can be operated through the 12 V battery and hence,
restricting the electricity consumption and limiting it low as that is being spend on the work
force. The developed system will not need any extra human for operating the machine and hence,
keeping the budget low as much possible. I used simple and cost effective products for the
proposed project that is capable of delivering the same output without altering the standard and
quality of the production. I adjusted the components and used large pulley that can generate
enough torque when rotated via the motor or human labour.

CE 2.3.5 Plan to produce creative and innovative work
I read and collected relative information from many research papers and articles and
added innovation in them through introducing the DC motor that can be used to rotate the pulley
and develop enough torque. I assembled the shaft, rod, and pulleys in a manner that the
electricity being used by the motor is efficiently being transformed into the mechanical energy
for producing the torque that can reshape the work piece through hammering. The rod and shaft
size had been kept proportional in manner to be much efficient while rotating and producing
enough torque.
CE 2.3.6 Collaborative work

my ideas and deliver the project successfully. I was a part of the team in which I had to
accomplish my sector of job as assigned by the project leader and assure that I accomplish my
roles and responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner. I developed the design, assembled
the products and executed the mathematical calculation for the develop system in manner to
relate the hammer length, weight, and torque being produced by the motor.
