Negative Experience assignment PDF_1
PORTFOLIO 1PORTFOLIO 2A negative experience was faced by me recently in my workplace. I was given a taskby my team leader about designing a product that was based on additive technology. A blueprint of the product design was provided to me by my team leader. After going through theresearch process and preliminary analysis, I found out that the product was already beingused by another organization. Moreover, the product designing process was very similar tothe blueprint that I was provided with. After getting the assignment, my immediate responsewas to reject the proposal that was assigned to me. This led to the conflict in my workplace. The reason for the conflict was based in the fact that the company I was working forcould face immediate consequence due to the infringement of copyright laws. Theorganization that I was already using the product could charge the company withmisdemeanour and being the designer of the product, I could have faced a lot of issues due tothe conflict. My negative response was not taken lightly by mu supervisors and theyimmediately ordered me to complete the assignment without any more questioning. From this mentioned scenario, I learnt some basic skills about conducting my workdiligently. Keeping my profession in view, it is my duty to conduct my profession in the bestethical way possible. The assigned work by the team leader was not an example of thatprofessional work. The assignment could have the tampered my professional conduct. Moreover, if the victim organization found out about our professional conduct, they couldhave pressed charges on our company which would have affected our company’s reputation. This would have hurt not only me and the company but also the prospective employees whowere working in the organization.Without thinking anymore, I immediately decided on the processes to combat thisissue. The best way to combat this issue was to not ignore the problem and report it to thehigher authorities about the unethical practice. Considering the seriousness of the matter, I

PORTFOLIO 2would have told the team leader to consider the situation again and think from an ethical viewof his perspective. I would have provided some recommendations to combat the situationwithout hurting the productivity of the company. Being a product designer, it would hadtaken a little bit more time than what was proposed by my team leader but the proposed resultof the product would have been the same minus the ethical issues that I was facing duringthat time. Instead of copying the blueprint of the product, I could have simply designed theproduct from scratch which could have saved the reputation of the company. The positive impact of the entire scenario was that I was able to make my team leaderevaluate about the consequences of his actions. Through my interpersonal and problemsolving skills, I managed to make my higher authorities understand about the issue that I wasfacing in my workplace. The only negative side of this whole experience was that through theentire experience, I made my team leader very angry as I directly refused his assignment andnotified my supervisors about the prospective situation.
