INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are important to get future employability and become a successful
leader. Right from the beginning an individual should keep on working for enhancing academic
skills and rightly planning and organising resources with a specified period of time. This report
covers analysis of own skills and abilities with the help of SWOT analysis, use of smart goals in
order to monitor and identify improve professional practice, preparing CPPD plan in order to set
deadlines and expectations that needs to be met for accomplishing professional and personal
career objectives. Apart from that, the report also covers the issues and difficulties faced and
their impact on the planned CPPD activities, reflective statement on the analysis of progress
made in the planned personal and professional development activities (Beeson, 2020).
TASK 1
SWOT based on your skills assessment with clear links to higher education and personal
performance.
SWOT analysis determines four dimensions’ strengths, weaknesses, opportunities,
threats. Further, SWOT analysis performed on higher education and personal performance is
discussed as:
Strengths
Written communication skills
By proactively taking part in different research and projects helps me to enhance my written
communication skills. Written communication skill is important both in personal and
professional life, where in I am able to write my own understandings to different situations.
Decision making skills
Decision making skill is important everywhere and any time irrespective of what the event or
situation is. With the help of taking part in group project I was able to work on my decision
making by analyzing each and every situations and requirements, further formulating sound
decisions and planning. Decision making skills would help me in my future professional career

Creativity
With the ability of being creative and adding my own innovative ideas to every decision is an

Oral communication skills
oral communication skill is one of my weaknesses where I am not able to communicate properly.
This happens due to lack of confidence and having an introvert behaviour that negatively impact
both my personal and professional life where I am not been able to open up and interact with
people. Due to lack of oral communication skills I also get nervous when I start speaking in front
of my colleagues and my team leader. Effective communication plays a significant role in
professional work to rightly manage each task assigned, being accountable and to communicate
the organisational objectives among the employees (Hobbs and Holley, 2015).
Time management
sometimes I get overworked that negatively impacts my creativity. Time management is
important in order to schedule each and every activity and balancing both personal and
professional life. I need to work on my time management skills rightly for each and every
activity, so that I am able to use my skills and competencies in the most appropriate
manner. Further, not able to managing different activities properly makes me over stress about
the deadlines to be met.
Team working
I need to work on my team working skills, which is also a crucial employability skill that will
help me in near future in order to work as a team to accomplish organisational objectives as I
want to be a human resource manager as my future career goal so I need to work on enhancing
my team working skills so that I am able to manage the human capital of the organisation as a
team to accomplish organisational targets and expectations (Lah and Smith, 2015).

By actively taking participation in group projects provided by our University would help me to
work on my weaknesses and accept challenges. It would also help me to working group where I
would be able to address my key skills such as communication and others.

Due to rising advancement in technology, it becomes very difficult to gain knowledge and
experience about using each and every technology. Working and studying on a technology would
not be suffice, wherein I need to gather information and proper knowledge about different

Smart goals as such objectives that are set in in order to plan specific objectives and
accomplish them within the specified period of time. Smart is the acronym that stands for
specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. I need to prepare smart goals in order to
rightly determine an effective schedule with a particular time being and act accordingly to
accomplish the future personal or professional objectives.

I want to enhance my academic skills in a time period of two months. For which I need to work
on different group projects provided by the universities and conduct research and other related
activities. Enhancing my skills would greatly benefit me to accomplish my future career goals
and help me to get employment opportunities (McGill, Heikkila and Lazarowicz, 2020).
Measurable
In order to measure the progress for accomplishment of set of goals. I need to track and reach the
targets and collect feedbacks from my teachers, colleagues and self-evaluation age.

Difficulty for acquiring course materials
The success of accomplishing academic objectives is dependent upon acquiring and organising
right sources. These includes different resources such as books, guidance of teachers or any other

equipment which is required to learn effectively. The inadequate or inappropriate learning may
lead to the wrong direction. Thus, the main issues that I feel was to organize all the resources at
the right time, wherein some other or the other resource would always fall short at a point of
time.
Anxiety that leads to poor performance
Due to many distractions such as not able to work as per the specified deadline and standards
would become a major contributor for poor performance further, it also damages my overall
CPPD plan to accomplish the academic career objectives. Due to so many distractions I would
feel overstressed and anxious and lack good concentration. Feeling anxious would let to number
of problems such as unable to recall things, unable to organise different activities and majorly
hinder productivity.
Inconsistency
Inconsistency is another issue that causes hindrances for accomplishing my objectives in CPPD
plan. Wherein I was not able to maintain a consistency as per the time schedule that I prepared.
Major reasons of inconsistency included distractions such as watching television, video games,
outings with friends, social media resulting to lack of focus on learning. It also left me feel
unproductive due to distracted working environment.
Difficulty planning in organising different activities
The most common issue that I faced for managing different academic task was difficulty for
organising and planning different activities. Due to personal and professional commitments at
same time period it was result chaos and manage things at same time leading to delays and
failure for meeting the targets.
Time management
The another important issue that I faced included proper time management due to busy schedules
it was difficult to manage all the activities including work, extracurricular activities, social life,
class schedules and so on. Further, it negatively impacts the CPPD planning, as I’m not able to
enhance my time management skills as per specified time period and fails to address the areas of
development. Due to inability to manage time I was struggling to meet the deadlines and felt

overstressed and burdened with the work, used to end up staying and waking up late night to
finish off with my work which further also damaged my time schedules for different activities.
Difficulty in remembering facts and figures
Because there were many activities including internships, project work, taking classes and
others, resulting to feel overburdened at a time and make me unable to remember all of the
information at a time. Though I used to prepare notes so that I am able to re-collect all the
information but still I would always miss certain important facts and information that further
damage my CPPD plan to enhance my skills and knowledge (Smale and Fowlie, 2015)
Low motivation
Low motivation is also one of the biggest challenge faced for accomplishing the career
objectives. Without internal drive to accomplish determined objectives it is impossible or
difficult to figure out and understand learnings. Low motivation occurred at times when I feel
tired and over stressed, not in the best of the health, too much worrying about the outcomes and
other events that distracts and further negatively impacts the learnings. Low motivation is one of
the factor that impacted CPPD plan to accomplish skills and knowledge at a specified period of
time.

Keeping a record of each and every activity helps to me to determine the shortcomings and the
strengths that I experienced. Keeping records and review them frequently about what all actions I
took, what all I accomplished and learned from the experience. With the help of CPPD plan I
was able to accomplish knowledge about latest technologies and internships helped me to gain

practical knowledge about technology used in HRM, it would also help me in my future career to
accomplish employment opportunities in HR and build my resume in a better manner (Watkins

Reflecting and reviewing
Reviewing is an important aspect that helps to analyse the developments, achievements and the
shortcomings in the performance. With the help of reviewing the goals I was able to make self-
assessment for development made over period of a time. With the help of group project work I
was able to enhance skills such as leadership and team working that helped my team to
accomplish expectation and meet deadlines in order to complete the project work. Teamwork,
leadership would further help me in my professional career objective to get easy employability
and to become a successful leader.
Recording achievements
Recording is also important in order to keep a record of the strengths, things which worked well
and recording main achievements. Completing my internships and group projects achievements
helped me to feel satisfied and driven for fulfilling the objectives of CPPD planning.

with the help of CPPD planning at a point of time. With the help of CPPD planning I was able to

skills helped me to build good resume and with good efforts put to complete the project, I got
recognised in the University.
