Human right standards are set by the international agreement and are based on the
universal norms as well sat the applicability of the standards on every society. The human rights
can be implemented differently by different business. The human rights are granted to every
individual regardless of the sex, colour, origin, nationality, religion and other status. The action
of companies can impact the people enjoying the human rights positively and negatively. The
impact of the business on the human rights can be explained with an example such as the right of
self-determination, that allows the group of peoples are entitled for determining their political
status along with the place in the international community, the right also provides with the rights
to pursue social, economic and cultural development as well as dispose a land’s natural
resources. The business activities impact the indigenous peoples land by construction or
acquisition and impact the rights of the self-determination. The multinational companies with the
partner are involved in the violations of the human rights in the global operations (Engwall,
2018). The human rights awareness has increased the media attention to the business role in
increasing the awareness for treating the workers who are producing the making the goods for
meeting the demands of the global market. Many campaigns are impacting the business for
targeting the human rights and the abuses and the companies are enforcing meaningful
approaches for avoiding the violations of the human rights in the business.

The purpose of the code of conduct is to enhance the effectiveness of the system that
defines the standards for the ethical behaviours as well as the professional conduct are mandate
to the human right holders. The anti-harassment and anti-discrimination policies are not the
alternatives for filing the complaint under the code. When the dispute is not resolved the
individual can file a human right claim under the code. The individual can go to the Commission,
Tribunal or court if it is required, the resolving complaints or internal procedures do not stop the

individual. The collective agreement to the employees provides them with the rights to file a
grievance as the right as well as the obligations of the code are incorporated in the agreement.
The business risks can be assessing as well managed by getting aware of the human
rights. This helps the business to protect the reputation and open new commercial opportunity.
The business is required to follow the laws to respect the human rights. The equality Act 2010
help the business to fulfil the right to non-discrimination as well as the Management of the
Health and the Safety regulations 1999 help the business keeping the environment safe for the
working (Bartlett, 2017). The dignity of the people in the community is preserved and promoted
with the human rights laws. Under the code the organisation are prohibited from treating the
people unfairly. This helps the communities of disadvantage backgrounds to improve their
situation. The code understands the importance for addressing the historical disadvantage and
protects the communities with the special programs along with helping the marginalised groups.

The idea for the formation of HURIDOS (Human Rights Information and Documentation
Systems) was taken by the human right organisations representatives. They find the need to
standardize the documentation practices of the Human rights along with taking the advantage of
the emerging technologies of information as well as communication at that time. The HURIDOS
is a non-government organisation that mobilise information for accountability as well as justice
to support the human right groups. The organisation is best suited for the organisations to handle
the human right issues as it develops the tools as well as strategies for the facilitating the human
right documentation and monitoring work along with enhancing the accessing to the human right
information bodies. HURIDOCS consults with the organisations that have many scopes and
sizes, international NGOs, local grassroots groups and national human right institutions for
helping them in overcoming the challenges related to the information management.
HURIDOCS is currently using Uwazi flagship tool that is an open source database
application (Araujo). This application is made for the defenders of human right to help them with
the management of the testimonies, cases, facts, evidences, complaints and many other type of
information. It also use structured approaches like Events Standard Formats for recording and
monitoring the information regarding the abuses of political, social, civil and cultural rights. This
format is used by various organisations for different uses such as collecting evidence, monitoring

the attacks against the journalists’ and supporting the mental health diagnoses for the torture
survivors, refugees as well as immigrants.

The code of conduct can have positive as well as negative impact on the community and
the company. The positive impact of the code of conduct can be that the code is well written and
clarifies the organisation’s values, principles and mission, thy can be linked with the professional
standards of conduct. This will help the company to foster the communities and the employees.
The codes will serve important purpose such as compliance that is the legislation requires
implementing the codes to the employees, marketing and risking mitigating. The violation of the
code of conduct can lead to various consequences for the people like depriving from their basic
human rights and other rights such as political, civil as well as economic rights. The employees
can suffer from ill treatment as well as the community may get the physical, economic, social
and psychological effects.
The supporting bodies help the organisation to conduct the codes of human rights to the
fullest and help them to monitor and detect any king of violation of the human rights in the
organisation (Blustein and et.al, 2019). The supporting bodies develop an approach that suits for
the organisation and help the employees in growing and the communities that are composed of
the individuals. If the professional body support lack in any of their approach in providing the
basic human rights to the employees the company might have to look for a lawyer to help the
company get out from the court due to the report filing from the violated employee. This can
harm the reputation of the company and also affect the individual that has suffered from the
violation in the organisation’s premises.
