Introduction
To make career bright, graduation period plays a specific role where working on
number of assignments, group projects and more, provide opportunity to gain
employment and academic skills (Godlonton, 2020). Under the present project, I am
going to reveal some resources that I have used for enhancing my employment
knowledge and abilities. In addition to this, a discussion is made over one of the ideal
job, role description and person specification with resources for facilitating the same.

Ideal job
During academic, I have decided to work on general management position in a
firm, because this job is looking quite interested where a person handles overall daily
routine activities (Miller, 2020). A number of roles and responsibilities are performed
such as improvement in business functions, managing training functions, budgets,
development of strategic plans, creation of policies etc. So, taking this job as an ideal
one, I have concerned more on developing skills, knowledge and abilities that are
required for holding it. As job role is varied as per company to company, therefore, after
graduation, I would like to work in retail firm mainly. This is because, working in such a
field help in enhancing better communication, interpersonal skills, abilities to understand
customer requirement and more (Son-Turan, 2020). Along with this, general manager
also concerns on monitoring performance of other departments, which aid them to
acknowledge themselves from different roles and responsibilities also. It includes store
management, CRM, HRM, marketing and so on. Thus, if I got job on this position, will
help me to developing a wide variety of skills and abilities, which further aid to enhance
career more bright.

to look at future of organisation and make key investments including
recommendations for budgetary and financial control.
Brief summary of person specification
The role of general management position in any firm is not an easy one, especially
in a retail firm, where customers’ preferences rapidly change with new emerging market
(Hensley, 2020). From above mentioned person specification, it has to be understood
that A GM is not accountable to the employer, but also for entire corporate group
including entire stakeholders, all activities of business unit that mainly emphasised on
financial results. In addition to this, general manager has a great deal of autonomy in
terms of handling various operating within business unit, where concern is more giving
towards significant investments including changes in required key strategies. They also
face a number challenges for running an entity successfully, like reporting to the
corporate group under which focused is predominantly given on financial outcomes
(Halim, 2020). It has evaluated further that GMs in short are responsible for store layout
planning and display to simplify the customer shopping by promoting products via
engagement with various divisions, at large level.
Way to qualify for the job
After evaluating various roles and responsibilities that must be performed
appropriately by General Managers in a retail firm, firstly I will work on improvement my
skills and abilities that are required for performing the same (Ruoslahti, 2020). During
academic period, will engage more in group related projects, to develop team-work,
managerial and leadership skills, which are essential for handling mentioned duties of
GMs. In addition to this, will work on improving and enhancing my communication skills
also, which requires must for qualifying the job and influence interviewers to approach

me for grabbing this position (Mullen, 2020). But after graduation and taking experience
in a retail firm in general management department for more than three years, I will use
number of key resources that facilitate me to find job process. It includes –
Networking websites: This resource is also known as hidden employment market,
which refers to best way for staying on top of finding a job. For this purpose, having
skills is essential to landing a job, before check in on the job search sites, where
knowing about a right people lead to get a job more faster (Mukimov, 2020). In this
sense, networking events provide opportunities for meet with people who are enrolled
within an industry. They would help in connect with potential job opportunities, as well
as give valuable suggestions by acting as mentors for getting desired employment.
Therefore, to get position of General Manager after graduation and gaining working
experience in same field, in will use networking sites like Meetup, Eventbrite and others.
This would aid to become more socialise with professionals and increase chance to get
information about any vacancy for relevant position, in real time manner (Kramoliš,
Šviráková and Král, 2020).
Social media platform: It is also considered as best way for searching job and
getting adequate information about desired position in a firm. Following and connecting
with interested retail companies via their website and their account on social media,
where they mostly post about information about vacancies or latest job openings, will
aid me to respond immediately for getting same (Godlonton, 2020). Getting
engagement with company in real-time manner, will help in posing questions regarding
with job profile, organisational culture and others, for apply on vacant position.
Company Websites: As I already have my dream employer in mind i.e. fashion-
retailers like M&S, H&M and more, then go directly towards career section of their
website, would help in tracking job openings over there. It also enhances chance to find
vacancy that I will waiting for which is general management post as manner and apply
(Halim, 2020). Creating a list of employers where I would like to work for can also be
possible by using company’s website as better resource for finding desired job.
Thus, using above mentioned resources will help in future after completion of
academic to get dream job more easily. Using such resources also aid to increase
online presence of myself, through which getting accessibility of mine for recruiters give

me opportunity to gain their attention on my job profile (Miller, 2020). It will also increase
chance for being selected for first process of recruitment.
Conclusion
It has been concluded from all over report that to get a dream job in future, it is
essential for a person to get properly engaged within studies first. This would help in
evaluating number of employment skills and abilities as well as developing the same, for
making career more bright. In addition to this, having knowledge about various
resources also facilitate to understand job-searching process and getting selected for
desired position by applying on time.
