INTRODUCTION
Development of health is a prime priority for every individual in order to live their life in
much better manner by accomplishing their day to day activities. However, health and social care
is a term which relates with those services that are provided by healthcare associations to the
needy people such as; aged citizens, poor people and so on (Purdie, Dudgeon and Walker, 2010).
Therefore, assignment is going to highlight various legal norms, legislation, provisions, rules and
regulations set by governing bodies for controlling wrongful conducts from health care
associations. However, case study based on two care homes will discussed in the project for
understanding the influence of several elements related with health care practices on users and
company too. For example; procedure followed by care homes for protecting patients, employees
and various other member related with the association. Number of theories, effectiveness of
inter-professional and several other matters related with development of social care workplace
are further outlined in the project. Hence, main objective of the whole assignment is to throw
major lights on numerous of Principles related with health and social care practice.
CASE STUDY 1
1.1 Principles of support applied for ensuring caring of individuals in health and social care
According to given case study, ICON Residential care home which engaged in providing
care services to dementia people that is explicitly rely on upholding and encouraging human
rights of individuals. However, patients are not able to acquire necessary care facilities because
of staff dilemma as they get confused about their duty due the presence of various patients. Thus
care Home needs to follow all the necessary provisions, rules and regulations while
accomplishing their organizational functions. For example; daily supervision of staff, yearly
appraisals by having fixed targets which permit management team for monitoring the progress
and continuous development of staff members (Aveyard, 2014). Their main objective is to offer
person centred approach to those people who needed instant services by implementing this
framework at workplace. Apart from this, care home also requisite to follow some of the
necessary principles in order to make sure that every individual can acquired care in health and
social care practice is discussed as follows-

 Increasing choice and control- As per this element, home care needs to establish
relationship between health care professionals as well as with senior citizens and
encourage them to behave actively in managing their well-being.
 Care- Needs to handle with full of love and affection.
 Promotion of health- First or foremost motive of care provider is to take care the health
of users because he/she is liable for being a proactive approach as well as take all the
possible initiatives for promoting health. As a result, this will be beneficial for health of
various individuals which are acquiring care.

rules and regulations for minimizing the probabilities of major risk and harm. In fact, numbers of
small and large care homes are established at public place for providing best suitable services to
the whole society. Their main objective is to protect final users, clients and staff members from
getting affected by harmful things. Therefore, some of the essential procedure which is followed
by Rupali Care home for preventing their clients, patients and colleagues from harmful activity
are described below-
 Supporting health care needs- An organization needs to encourage to offer basic health
requirements to every individual whomsoever are having connectivity with care homes.
Some of the users are gone through various basis issues such as; hypertension, diabetes
and various other health problems which affect them slowly. Therefore, it is essential for
care provider to make sure that all of them take their regular medicines on time and have
balanced or nutritious diet (Fetters, Curry and Creswell, 2013).

responsible for maintaining cleanliness at residents for creating hygienic environment in

examples and issues this residential care home feels that there is a need of putting people at
centre of services for identifying opportunities for strengthening protection of rights of person
faces dementia. Basically, person centred approach is one of the most suitable element which
directs all the current health and social care practices in UK. It’s a person centred approach of
care that is fully based on therapeutic efforts of Carl Rogers whose main objective is to
concentrate on defending personal rights of users and make decision in that way which complies
their different need in best appropriate manner. Although, this approach is adopted in various
health and social care associations but number of them developed themselves by depending on
financial and political viewpoints while making plan for care (Koren, 2010).
It has been assessed that, implementation of person centred framework with services
users of ICON residential care home allows for placing preferences, needs and demand at the top
most in order to serve them in proper manner. However, foremost benefit of person centred
approach is to control the health problems of patients by giving them instant services at the time
of need and pays full attention on them. In fact, employees of ICON residential needs to serve
final users with full of dignity and taking full care of privacy of consumers. Apart from this, one
of the major benefits of executing person centred approach at ICON residential care home is that

situation for care provider because at one hand they are liable or their key principle is to treat the
people in every possible manner while on the other hand preferences, dignity and respect of a
person is also considered which shows the ethical dilemma (Donovan and Henley, 2010).
Consequently, for these kinds of situations there must be ethical guidelines and policies
which is provided by health care practitioners in order to follow them while performing job role
without any fear.
3.1 Theories which underpin health and social care practice
As per the ICON residential care home, System theory is one of the most suitable
approach and quite applicable because it helps in focussing on human nature and their
compatibility with complexity of system. However, centre is liable for focussing on system
which includes fulfilment of care, delivered on time services, fulfilling attributes as well as
expectations of people who are connected with this system. Basically, system model is
considered as team efforts which a person or group of individual must use for making their lives

users of health and social care in negative manner such as; if an individual is totally away from
social gatherings then they might get affected with mental stress and recovery is also failed. It
means that, person excluded from society feels very isolated and depressed which is really very
dangerous for their health. As a result, few members are going to do various unintentional
activities such as; suicide is also reason of society exclusion, harming themselves and many
more. Therefore, in the given case study of ICON residential care home it is essential for
employees to make sure that every patient must surrounded with society as major example of

dementia and failed in early recovery also.

Inter-professional working is a term which is defined as a team of individuals which are

Moreover, this will also help in giving satisfaction for users related with services and
helps in regaining the lost image of care home. Since, professional team would properly
discussed the current situation of patient and further set targets to bring him/her back to the most
suitable health. As a result, this will supportive for patients and aids in attaining fastest recovery
as soon as possible by positive state of mind. Apart from this, this style also support in
discussing roles and responsibilities of nurses and other expertise people for offering on time
services to the end users at ICON residential care home. Hence, this will not help in attaining
satisfaction of users but also assist in implementing services which are related to professional
therapy, physiotherapy, radiology and social services to most poorer downtrodden.

4.1 Own role, responsibilities, accountabilities and duties in context with within and outside of
health and social care workplace
Head of ICON residential care home tries to gathering its image and popularity as a top
most care home which is very much suitable for wellbeing and convenience of patients who are
suffering from several diseases. As a manager, it is my duty for strictly monitoring the staff
members whether they are properly accomplishing their roles and responsibility or not. In fact,
for judging the whole situation I need to consider feedbacks of patients instantly in order to take
immediate improvements at workplace. By this strategy, frequent enhancement and changes can
suddenly made which helps in regaining the reputation of Care home.
Apart from this, as a manager I am also responsible for ensuring that I can provide equity
in provision of care, permission of accessing facilities which are provided by an organization,
financial support as well as liberal behaviour towards patients who are fully depend on us. Along
with this, number of other responsibilities are also identified which is followed by manager
which includes health care services. From all the obligation, foremost role is to make sure that
whether the users are receiving proper medical care as per their requirement or not. As, it’s a
most top most issue that must be considered as life and development of users is fully dependent
on medical care which is given to them by Care home professionals. Hence, role of manager not
only complete here but its extended to the nutritional diet which is given to patients, on time
cleanliness of rooms, maintenance of hygienic environment, ensuring the security of users at
considerable level and many more.
4.2 Own contribution in development and implementation of health and social care organization
policy
It is really significant that I am working in health and social care organization that is
practicing in a various range of settings. Basically, my role is very much crucial in development
and implementation of organizational policies in ICON residential care home. As a manager my
contribution is really very eminent by allowing other expertise for accomplishing their
responsibilities in best suitable manner. Additionally, as a manager of an association I have a
prime line of defence for preventing vulnerable population and managerial accountable for
assisting association policy associated with security of individuals. While protecting human
rights of customers I will be responsible for acquiring resources which is required for promoting
best practices standards at workplace. Last but not least, by getting engaged in ethical standards

my role is to influence quality of care by augmenting with professional members and making
sure for accomplishing all the activities.
4.3 Recommendation for developing own contribution in meeting practice requirements
ICON residential CARE home is really playing very effective role in handling dementia
patient but as a manager I need to make sure that all the activities will be properly accomplished
in suitable way. For meeting this purpose with good practice need, it is essential for grooming
professionals and employees too. Through progressing, conducting additional training
programmes is really indispensable for enhancing the skills of various staff members. This will
help an enterprise in making them aware about the technique of handling diverse people who are
belong from distinct places. This practice consist of reviewing and disseminating existing
research adjacent to health and social care as well as suitable execution of evidence into practice.
By implementing these suggestion will definitely resultant into protection of vulnerable group
members, create a collaborative working environment as well as winning observance to high
standards.
Apart from this, some of the other techniques for developing own contribution is to
proper supervision and management at workplace as well as on time delivery guidance to staff
members. Additionally, acquiring feedbacks and acting properly according to need and
requirement of patients.
