INTRODUCTION
Operation management can be defined as the administration of business practices for
creating highest level of efficiency in the organisation. This is defined as the process in which
raw-materials and labour are managed together for manufacturing an effective finished goods in
the organisation. The major benefit to implement this in organisation is to maximize the profits
for the corporation by completing their process in effective manner. The organisation chosen for
this task is Portakabin which is a leading organisation in construction industry. Most of their
transaction are business to business for completing their work effectively. This project is
focused on the implementation of various operations management principles. Along, with this
continuous improvement plan will also be developed that is based on the operations management
principle (Fenn and et. al., 2012). At last, each stage of the product life cycle is also included in
this report by using appropriate techniques, theories, concept and model.

Introduction to the organisation- Portakabin is one of the leading organisation of the UK
market. They provides various goods are manufactured by organisation. Management of
Portakabin is operating and their business in more than 6 countries. Moreover, there are 1,300
employee's are engage in organisation for completing their work effectively. The core businesses
of the Portakabin is B2B businesses. This determines that they manufactures products for other
business that operates their businesses with more efficiency and effectiveness.
Operations versus Operation management
Operations- Operations refers to the process of converting raw-material and semi-
finished goods into finished goods. Moreover, this helps the management for developing
effective strategies and policies. It helps an organisation to achieve their goals in most effective
manner (Fleming and Koppelman, 2016).
Operation management- This refers to the process of planning, controlling and
supervising all the activities of production department. In context of Portakabin this is the
primary function for management that is used by them to enhance the overall productivity of the
organisation.

focus on the matter of managing various techniques in comparison
to dissolving of certain issues. This will support the company in
managing their products and services. The company is going to
offer a new product washing machines which is not made with new
tools and techniques.

organisation to focus on managing different techniques in order to
deal with certain issue of the organisation. Moreover, for an
organisation they manage various products and services to
complete their work in effective manner. Company is focused
towards their new YBS which is updated and made through using
different tools or techniques. They are used to complete their work

to improve the current and future situations of the organisation in a particular time frame. To
done this effectively, current and future situations of the organisation is analysed by the
management of Portakabin.
Lean principle- The major benefit to implement lean principle in organisation is to complete the
organisational operations, by minimising the waste from the operational process. This refers to
complete their work by formulating effective policy and strategies which work with motive of
reducing from their operations (Matta and et. al., 2014). Some of the essential principle of lean
manufacturing system are mention as follow:

products by generating more value in their products. It results

from the year 1961. Yorkon works as a brand that belongs to the Portakabin group, moreover
they are main focused to bring technology in all of its products.
Project- The primary objective of the organisation is to bring more innovation in building
of the society through transporting them at various places.

Project life cycle undertakes four steps which are involved at the beginning of the project
for completing them in effective manner. It helps an organisation for achieving various goals by
utilising all resources that are present in the organisation. Prime stages for the project life cycle
are mention as follow: Project initiation- It is the first step of the organisation that is included in PLC. These
process involves the process of defining the objectives, vision, mission and value of the
