Project Brief
Module Title: Professional and Academic skills for Nursing
Project No/Title: Folder of Evidence
1. This project must be submitted electronically BEFORE 2pm on the submission date
2. To submit electronically you must upload your work to the e-submission ‘submit my work’ area within the
Blackboard module concerned. Click Submit> Browse (find the correct file to upload) Upload> Submit
3. You can resubmit your work as many times as you like until the deadline. If you choose to resubmit, your earlier
submission will be replaced, and you will NOT receive an Originality Report until 24 hours from when the submission
was made. You will receive a digital receipt as proof of submission. This will be sent to your Bucks e-mail address;
please keep this for reference
4. Late submissions will be accepted up to 10 working days after the submission date. Please not that marks for
late submissions will be capped at maximum mark of 40%. Submissions made after the 10 working days will not
be marked.

Instructions to Students:
You will be required to submit a 'Folder of Evidence'. (See Template)
There are Four parts to your Assessment within this module: (failure to complete any one part will result in a failed
project)
• A reference list to include six items of appropriate evidence from a topic of your choice and
relating to one of the Essential Skills Clusters (NMC, 2010).
• A precis of two of the articles of evidence (250 words per article) - at least one of these articles must be
from a peer reviewed journal and one must be a primary piece of research .
• A 1000 word reflection on their experience of the above (researching the evidence).
• Construct an Action plan of 2 academic and 2 practice related targets that will develop your professional
and academic skills for nursing.

Formative assessment:
You will be placed into groups by your seminar leader and given a topic to research and then
present at the end of the semester. The topics will relate to “The Essential Skills Clusters” (NMC,
2010)
This will enable you to undertake a search for the evidence on which to base your
Presentation.
Summative assessment:
From your search you will create your ‘Folder of Evidence’
 You will create a reference list of evidence which should include: a book; at least two peer
reviewed journal articles; online policy or legislation and a primary piece of research.
 You will use two of the chosen articles to write a ‘precis’ (review summary)
 You will then reflect on how and why you searched for this evidence, using the Template
provided and based on the Driscoll model of reflection.
 This exercise will finally enable you to consider and develop future learning outcomes for
practice, using the Action Plan Template. You should include 2 academic and 2 practice
related learning targets
The Summative Assessment requires you to submit all four elements of the Folder
of Evidence, which you have been developing through the semester.
Your submitted work must be presented in size 12, Arial font with 1.5 line spacing.
The reflection should be no more than 1000 words and YOU MUST use the Template
provided.
Your action plan must be based around SMARTER objectives for practice.
On the title page you must include the following elements:
- Your student number and cohort.
- The module information (module code and name).
- The actual word count for the Reflective element.
- The actual word count for Article A and Article B
- The submission date.
- Your modular tutor and the module leader’s name.

Resubmission Information:
1. Your mark for this piece of course work will be confirmed at the Assessment Board. If you are given a
resubmission opportunity you will be given a date by the Assessment Board to resubmit your work.
2. The mark for resubmitted work will be confirmed at the Assessment Board. You may be given a
resubmission opportunity following this Assessment Board, submission date to be confirmed.
