INTRODUCTION
Professional career development is defined as the process of making decisions for long term
success. It involve all the activities required by the individual to enhance their occupational
status.it gives a positive atmosphere of career planning and development of a person.it makes the
employee more aware of the market and helps them to stay relevant and up to date. Professional
development of an employee increases the retention rate as well.in this report we will study
about the strategies for personal reflection and career development planning and to gain
confidence and competence as effective employees.( Yates, J., 2020)

Understanding the concept of professional career development by Gibbs reflective learning
model.
Professional career development is necessary for the future development of any individual.
Professional career development involves all the orientation programs, training and certification
course which are required to have a successful career future. With the help of professional
development an individual is able to do work more effectively and efficiently. Providing training
in job is one of the important part of professional career development. Likewise there are many
examples of professional development like mentoring, consultation, certification courses and
online training programs.it is very important concept for any organization as it promotes
employee retention.it also boost the confidence level of employees as they feel more dedicated
and innovative with lot of knowledge.( Vondracek, F.W., Lerner, R.M. and Schulenberg, J.E.,
2019) Professional development open the door of new responsibilities and makes the employee
more efficient.in one of the interview done with one of my friend regarding professional career
development, it has been analysed that for the development of career future professional career
development is required. Furthermore, we can understand the concept of professional career
development with the help of Gibbs reflective learning model. Gibbs' reflective learning model is
one of the most famous model of the reflection. The main purpose of this model is to have the
systematic reflection by explaining the learning experience through the six stages of this model.
The six stages of the model are description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and the
action plan. (Savickas, S., 2018)This reflective model is considered the tool which helps the
individual to analysis the progress of themselves through learning by their past experiences The

six steps of the Gibbs' reflective model provides by explaining the learning experience by
considering the negative as well as the positive things happened while the learning process.
The explanation of the four topics from the module is explained using the Gibbs' reflective
model.
Description- This module helped in learning hoe the time can be managed effectively and hoe it
provides the positive results when completed the learning process timely. The learning
experience of this module was quite good as this has enhanced my time management skills.
Feelings- After learning this module, it was much good for me as this has helped me in learning
the module effectively. The content of the module was effective and was in the simple language
which helped me in understanding the topics in detailed manner. I felt much satisfied by learning
this nodule as this has helped me in the professional development by enhancing the time
management skills which is very important for the individual as this make them competent form
the other because this skill is very rare to be found in the individual.
Evaluation- The learning experience of this module was good in terms of learning the time
management skills. These skills enhanced in this module is much helpful for me in my career
path. There was very less negative situation while learning this module for the time management
as this was very difficult for me to adopt the skills.
Analysis- The experience of learning this module was positive as this helped me in developing
the time management skills as before this module my time management skills was much poor
because of which it becomes difficult for me to adopt these skills. The classes and the topics
were taken on time so this has helped me in managing my learning timely.
Conclusion- From learning this module, it can be concluded that the time management skills are
very important in effective learning process. This module has helped me in understanding the
importance of valuing the time and how to manage the things on time for getting the positive
results.
Action plan- The time management skills which are developed while learning this module is
much helpful and purposeful for my future. This skill will help me in managing my work
properly as well the value of time in the future in the company where I will be working. This
skill will help me in effectively completing the work without any delays. There are many
questions which should be in mind in future to improve the career development like if I have to
do the same project again then what should I do to make it more innovative or how will I

develop my skills.one thing I learn from this model is I will speak my mind whenever I have any
threat by knowing that this can improve the outcome of the work. I can further explain this with
the help of an example like next time whenever I am doing a work with the team at first I will
look for the strength of each team member so as to understand them better and I will work like
an ice breaker. I will insist them to plan out the work more strategically to be more confident
about the work we are doing. I will also welcome feedbacks and reviews of multiple people so as
to test the quality of the work. (Osborn, D.S., Sides, R.D. and Brown, C.A., 2020)All these
activities makes me a good employer and a great leader too and helps in making my professional
career more effective.
During the time of interview my mate asked me several questions regarding professional career
development and what are the steps involved in this model and I have explained all the points
very accurately. All those steps are described below:
1. Assessment
Assessment is the process of getting your own skills or knowing yourself. It is the way of
analyzing your values, strengths, skills, interests and personal behaviors for having a good
career development.one can improve the quality of self assessment by taking personality
assessment, you can consult some good planner or coaches to train you better, one should
have the ability of finding their interest level and skills so as to develop them in their interest
level field and the last one is to complete your greeting summary.( Markkanen, P., Välimäki,
M. and et.al., 2020.)
2. Exploration:
It is very important for a good career growth to explore more .one should have the ability of
explore and research career opportunities. Explore opportunities for career development like
working in an internship, startup and many more, one can also gather information on
different fields and industries. Getting information from various online platforms for
improving your skills also helps in increasing professional career development.
3. Preparation:
Preparing resumes is a type of preparation done by an employee for the betterment of his
career. The resume should be very accurate so as to make the first impression very good and
this also helps in defining the skills and career objective of the individual.by attending
seminars, trainings and doing internships (Tawanwongsri, W. and Phenwan, T., 2019) we can

improve our skills and learn more knowledge of our field and makes our cover letter more
strong.by practicing interview skills and testing ourselves can also help in building a good
professional career.
4. Implementation:
One should implement the skills needed to accomplish the aim they want to achieve. This can
be done by attending career fairs and company presentations. Networking with office mates
is very important for this and improve your job search skills by developing list of desired
jobs.( Hussein, H., 2018)
5. Decision-making:
Decision making is one of the most important aspect for a good career development.one
should have the ability to take decisions on time for making their career productive and more
efficient. Always make a meaningful career which can get by knowing your strengths, values
and skills.( Shaito, F., 2019)
Recruitment and selection:
Recruitment and selection is one of the most common but most important element for
every business organization, company depend upon this element to hire talent in the workplace
and to become internally stable to gain competitive advantage. I believe recruitment and
selection is heart of every business organization because I think company open their gate for
those skills who have ability to make business stable in highly competitive market. I believe
every company should have strong and effective recruitment and selection process that allow
them to hire talent in the workplace (Krebt, 2017). During role-play, I have identified that role-
play was completed in good manner as me and mate have explored different area of recruitment
and selection process.
I as asked few question related to my job description which I think, I have provided
correct answer for each question. However, there are certain part in which my mate lack behind
in asking relevant question during role play for example he asked me about my level of
professionalism which is quite challenging for me to answer because I am unaware about my
area of professionalism. Role play was done right as delivery of my confident and my mate’s
confident was done right, there were certain area where I lack behind for example during role
play some question was difficult to answer which made me nervous for example; role play mate

asked me to introduce myself as person which was challenging to answer but still I manage to
answer this question.
After completion of this role-play, I have developed certain skills for example public
speaking skills and team working skills. Interacting with mate allow me to explore different area
of development and help me to gain max. Knowledge on recruitment and selection process. I
become aware about concept of job description and learned to develop effective job description
for career process (Rumore, Schenk and Susskind, 2016). During role-play, I have understood
that confident become key element when performing interview as interviewer will ask difficult
question which need to be answered in confident manner. Overall role play was done in effective
manner as me and mate have explored different area of development, this role play was
beneficial but I think I still need to work more on my skills and job description to become stable
in career development process.

CONCLUSION
This report has discussed professional career development process and its importance in the
Individual’s life. Later this report has discussed personal reflection using different model of
personal reflection including Kolb or Gibbs, these model are been used to provide experience or
To describe experience of particular task. Later this report has discussed career development
planning that allow individual to examining their personal strength and weakness and allow
Individual to explore area of development. At last this report has discussed personal reflection of
Role play and discussed importance of recruitment and selection process in the company.
