INTRODUCTION Personal interview can be described as a process which involves face to face interaction between an interviewer and an interviewee for the purpose of evaluation and assessment. Interviewer is the person who conducts the job interview and the interviewee is the person who has applied for a position and is getting interviewed (Anzaldúa, 2020). In the following report, a transcript for the process of personal interview is being presented along with determination of advantages and disadvantages of the personal interview process. TASK 4 P6 Personal Interview for Job. Interview for job position- Front Desk Manager Interview transcript: Interviewee- May I get in Sir? Interviewer- Sure, get in and have a seat. Interviewee- Thank you very much, Sir! Interviewer- Hello! Tell me something about yourself! Interviewee- My name is Andrew Luck and I am 27 years old. I am a people-oriented person with excellent communication and team building skills. Interviewer- So, we have received your application for the job role of Front Desk Manager at our Hotel. Do you have any prior information about the job responsibility and specification of a Front Desk Manager? Interviewee- Yes, Sir! I have some prior information and knowledge about job description of Front Desk Manager which basically involves representing the hotel but I would like to know more about the job specifications. Interviewer- Okay, so the job of a Front-desk manager extends beyond what you just told me and it primarily includes managing the area of reception of guests, ensuring coordination between activities at the front desk, compiling various reports for the management, leading the team of front desk executives and ensuring that a good quality of service is being rendered to the customers of the hotel. Interviewee- Thank you very much Sir! I am sure I would be able to complete and fulfil all these responsibilities. 1
Interviewer- That’s great. Could you share some details about your work experience? Interviewee- Sir I have had a prior experience of 5 years in the hospitality service industry and have been working on very diverse roles in dynamic teams within the industry. Interviewer- Great. I believe you have the skills and competencies which are requires for the job role which you’ve applied for and having a look at your CV and based upon my interaction which we had, I think you would be the best candidate for this post of Hotel Front Desk Manager. So I would like to congratulate you for getting selected! Interviewee- It’s very overwhelming for me Sir! Thank you very much! If you don’t mind me asking, what would be salary and compensation? Interviewer- Initially you will be paid a basic salary of 45,000 pounds per month and your incentive will be based upon your performance and productivity. Interviewee- Okay, Sir! Interviewer- You will be informed about the details of the joining process by our HR team in a few days. Interviewee- Thank you, Sir. Interviewer- Great, we are delighted to have you on board! Have a wonderful day! Interviewee- Thank you very much, Sir! Looking forward to contribute my skills for achieveing the organisational goals! P7 Strength and weakness of Personal Interview process. The major advantages and disadvantages of the process of personal interview for selection are being described as follows: Strengths: In-depth evaluation:Application of personal interview process can help the management of Rocco Forte Hotels in obtaining in-depth information about the candidate and evaluate the personality and interpersonal skills which are essential in the hospitality industry in the most effective manner (Drew and et. al., 2014). Avoids ineffectiveness due to any barrier:Personal interview process is free from any barrier of communication such as noise, poor internet connectivity, lack of attention etcetera which is desirable for selecting the best candidate by the management of Rocco Forte Hotels.
