INTRODUCTION
Professional identity denotes as one’s professional self concept based on beliefs,
attributes, values, motives and experiences, practices. Professionalism shows the commitment
and dedication of an individual which helps to perform better and accomplish the
organisational goals and objectives. To better understand this concept Bright sun travel
company has been choosen that deals in providing tour and travels services for the customers
and plans for vacation time of the customers. The main aim of this report is to emphasis
towards professional identity and practice. In this report, following topics are covered such
as: key benefits of on-going professional development for different stakeholders, own
abilities, skills and competencies for a specific job role, range of theories and approaches
used for personal and professional development processes, development plan to enhance
chosen skills & with a specific work context. Apart from this, it also discuss about job
interview for suitable role in service industry, key strength and weakness of an applied
interview process.
TASK 1
P1 Examine key benefits of on-going professional development for different stakeholders
within a specific organisation
On going professional development is a systematic process of keeping record about
the knowledge, skills and experience which an individual learn from the work place. Key
benefitson-going professional development for different stakeholders are as follows:
Increase retention: It helps in increasing the retention of the employees because if
organisation will have the record of employees performance and experience then it will
helpful for the employees to retain. The Bright sun travels company retain the capable
employees on the basis of their record of knowledge and skill. (Wald, 2015).
Build confidence: This is beneficial in building the confidence of the employees. This
is why because if employees are retained on the basis of their experience and performance
then it will motivate to them. In the Bright sun travels company, their employees are
motivated and confident because they are not afraid to lose their job.

Making successful planning easier: On-going professional development is beneficial
for making future planning about the employees. It is possible because this enables the
managers to know about the on going performance of the employees and due to this they can
make future plans and strategies for the organisation and for employees. The Bright sun
travels company uses on- going professional development for making plans and policies
about the future.
Increase trust: Due to significant effort of on-going professional development, the
trust of employees increase towards the organisation. This is so because they know about
their performance and don't afraid to lose the job. In the Bright sun travels company, there
employees have trust towards the organisation and work with full of efficiency.(Trede and
Bridges, 2012).
Better decision: On- going professional development helps in making better decision
about the organisation's different aspects like employees. It provides them a framework of
analysing the performance of employees. Bright sun travels company makes effective
decision on the basis of on-going professional development tool.
P2 Investigate professional employer expectations of skills and competencies
As a professional there are various expectations which an employee have form in
context to skill and competencies. All companies wants to develop an professional
environment so that all employees put their maximum efforts to achieve the goals of
organisation. As Bright sun travel company is emphasis to investigate professional employer
expectations of skills and competencies so that healthy working environment can be establish
in the corporation in which all workers perform better in order to achieve the goals of
company and do work as per the requirement. Now a day’s demand of skilled labour is
continuously increasing because they have professional skills and competencies which help
the corporation to achieve the goals of company.
Those workers who have lack of professionalism than organisation provide training to
them so that their skills can be develop and they perform as per the need of corporation.
There are various things which are required in this context such as: proper knowledge. It is
required to have proper knowledge about a specific field, area or a subject. It is important to
have proper knowledge about the subject matter and it is helpful in the professional
development as well as carrier. For an example,Bright sun travel company hire those
employees who have professional skills and competencies. The candidates who are expert in

goals and objectives. As the management of company is responsible to hire those persons

requirement of firm. It is helpful for any company to achieve its predetermined objectives
(McNeil and Parker, 2013).

P3 Assess own abilities, skills and competencies for a specific job role
Every person has its own unique skills, abilities & competency to initiate or
completed the task within time specified. Its necessary and important that every person
should assess its skills, abilities or competencies to measure performance or activities in an
effective way. Its necessary to evaluate own skills to gather better & effective growth to led
support to development of an individual. For example, Bright sun travel is currently having
vacancy for marketing profile and they have published vacancy with job role and
responsibility. The applicant who want to apply for this role they need to review own skills
and competency to handle that profile (Huston, 2013).
For ability and skill assessment there is need to have specialisation in marketing
profile and needs to be experience at least one year and ability to adopt new challenges in
order to attract customer and convince them to obtain more services in future by providing
good services. For this, skill audit tools will be identified or undertaken to find or access
skills, competencies or ability are the point of consideration or focus. In this, skill of the self
will be given as the marks and compared to other person. Due to the skill audit, opportunity
for the skill development is expected along with taking strict action on matter of development
plan.
In order to analysis the personal skills and competencies about the job role of
marketing manager I also developed my own personal skill audit. This in move assist me in
identifying my strong as well as weak point where I require to betterment as per my job of
marketing manager in the Bright sun travel. There are two types of self evaluation model
such as personal skill audit and SWOT analysis:

There are various theories and approaches which are used for a personal and
professional development processes and it helps to develop the skills and knowledge so that a
person can achieve the goals of company. Learning theories and approaches for personal and
professional development process are as follows:
Behaviourist approach: Behaviourist approach is related to an analysing the
behaviour of human beings at the workplace. This is approach is very crucial for the company
in the context of understanding about the behaviour of employees.
Social learning theory: It is the development of behaviourism theory and as per this
theory, individuals can learn both directly & indirectly by observing others. It is helpful for
the learner to becomes absorbed into its gamut attitude which require to be positively
reinforced.
Cognitive approach to personal and professional development: This theory of
learning necessarily stress the requirement of assertiveness of the tutor & the passive
participate which does not give a great deal of choice rather to establish a predestined way.
Humanistic approach to learning: This approach of the learning and professional
development is emphasis to understand the behaviour and attitudes of human which provide
values in order to achieve the goals of organisation.
So learning theories and approaches which are used for personal and professional
development processes are very beneficial for the organisation to achieve the goals of
company (Huston, 2013).

work context
Development plan is essential because it is helpful to develop skills and competencies
which helps the company to achieve its goals and objectives. Skills are the abilities which are
helpful to carry out task to achieve the predetermined objectives and targets. It is divided in
two parts which are domain specific skill and domain general. In domain general skills
involve leadership, management of time and motivation. Apart from this domain specific skill
are useful for a particular job. As Bright sun travel company recruit those employees who are
skilful and can perform its roles and duties as per the requirement of organisation so a it can
achieve its goals. For a specific work there is a particular type of skill is require. For an
example, if a person is applying in Bright sun travel company for the marketing job than
management of company will not give finance related work to that individual. So for a
specific job there is a specific skill is required. Competencies are the combinations of
different characteristic & skills which enables & improve the efficiency so that job can be
performed in an appropriate manner. It is helpful for the organisation to achieve its targets as
well as goals. For the marketing related job there are various skills and competencies are
required such as: communication skill, critical thinking and problem- solving skills and the
competencies like creativity (Hayward, and Li, 2014). For the post of manager developmet

Interview denotes the conversation in which questions have been asked by the
interviewer from the candidate who want to apply for a specific job. If a person who is
appearing for the job interview in Bright sun travel company for the marketing job than it
have to concern about various things. If an individual who want to appear for the interview
than it have to prepare resume and cover letter. The employer is interesting in resume and
cover letter of the candidate and with the help of it, interviewer can know about the skills and
competencies of the person.
As most of the organisations short list the persons on the basis of weigh-age of their
resume and cover letter. It is require to be notice that if a person is applying for the job
opening than it have to put its maximum efforts to impress the employer so that chances of
selection can be increase. While preparing for the interview it is required to wear formal dress
as per the requirement of job as well as organisation. In the job interview there will be first
round is personal interview and if an individual has been selected in it than it have to appear
in next round which is aptitude test and if a person who have clear this round than it have to
appear in next round which is group discussion. If the candidate has selected in this round

which takes place in organisation.
P7 Review key strengths and weaknesses of an applied interview process
It is required for an individual to access its key strength and weakness in context to
applied interview process. I have different strength and weakness for this interview such as: I
have good communication skill which makes me able to communicate my ideas and point of
view so I have been selected in group discussion. My another strength is problem solving
skill which is helpful for me to resolve the problems and issues associated with the work
which help to achieve the objectives of Bright sun travel company. It is helpful for me to
clear the aptitude test and being selected for the job (Clarke and Drennan, 2013).
As per my views I am not good to tell about myself and I cannot convene to someone
so these are the key strengths and weaknesses of an applied interview process. The strength &
weakness of the interview process is as follows:

also helped me to develop my skills or
efficiency onto the major side. Moreover, i
used all given skills on the developed manner
or stage of working.
Also, skills of mine has certain
ineffectiveness or kind of the deficiences to
lead business function. My planning was not
appropriate or necessary to led utilisation of
skills to crack down given interview process.
There are various obstacles and challenges which are neded to be overcome. There is
a challenge for me to manage the group of persons and build the effective team who perform
their roles as per the requirement of comapny.
CONCLUSION
As from the above report, it has been concluded that professionalism is important in
the organisation. There are various theories and approaches of learning and development
which provide help a person to achieve its objectives. Development plan is help to achieve
the goals and objectives by enhancing the skills and knowledge. It is required to know about
