Introduction
Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) is a set of skills that are required by the
professionals which involve the communication and information technology. SFIA provides a
clear information of the of the various levels of responsibility and the description of skills. The
structure of SFIA is very flexible and it can be adapted and adopted in order to work on a range
of people management and Human resource systems (Sfia-online.org, 2018a).
Reflective interpretation of SFIA 6
The various topics that addressed in the SFIA 6 are product management; cloud, agile and big
data; information management; Information Technology; cybersecurity; digital skills. The new
skills that are mentioned in the SFIA 6 are sourcing, product management, performance
management, penetration testing, information technology strategy and planning, hardware
design, digital forensics. The languages that are included in the SFIA 6 are English, Spanish,
German, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic (Sfia-online.org, 2018b).
Selection and justification of the responsibility level in SFIA 6
The level of responsibility identified with respect to the profession that I will just after
my graduation ends is the responsibility level 1. The level 1 presents the initial starting point
especially for the new candidates that are doing his first job in IT industry.
Autonomy- uses little discretion and thus works under supervision. Due to the
lack of experience, I will be seeking guidance during the unexpected situations.
Influence- I will be working alone and interacting with my immediate colleagues
with a minimal amount of influence.

Skillset discussion
The skills highlighted in this responsibility level are communication skills; following the
organizational standards, ethics and code of conduct; capability of using the technology f
processes, applications and functions; basic information systems; organized approach towards
work (Sfia-online.org, 2018b).
First of all, the important skills of using the technology processes, applications, functions and as
well as the usage of the basic information systems. These skill sets are actually acquired during
the graduation course and these skills will be used during the work hours. Secondly, code of
ethics, code of conduct and the organizational standards are the information or rather skills that
will be required to work with honesty during work (Ho, 2012). The ethical and the organizational
standards are the basic set of skills and it will be conveyed to me via the organization I will be
working with during my first week of working. Lastly, the communication skills can be
developed during my work hours and as I will be gaining the experience within the timeline of 6
years.
Conclusion
The SFIA 6 provides a framework which helps in attaining skills and knowledge in the
field on IT. There are different types of levels, however for a graduate student, the responsibility
level 1 suits a totally new applicant.
