Executive Summary
The aim of this research work is identify differences among operating expenses as well as profit
generated from automation services in Telstra Group. The automation services of Telstra Group
are focused on the profit generated by the organization and its total operating expenses for last
ten years. The existing literature study is performed on automation and profit generation as well
as automation and operating expenses in the selected organization. The data were to be collected
from annual reports of Telstra Group from year 2010-2019. By means of regression analysis as
well as descriptive statistics, the collected data were analyzed. From the obtained research
results, it was analyzed that there is decrease in profit generated and increase in operating
expenses of Telstra. There is negative difference between operating expenses and profit
generation in Telstra service industry because of automation of services. It is recommended to
focus on strategic management investment in the business to boost customer satisfaction so that
profit is increased.

1. Introduction
The professional report is reflected on automation of the service business and determined
operating expenses and profits generated from automation services resulted in boosting the
customer satisfaction. The aim of this professional project report is analyzing relationship
between operating expenses as well as profit generation in the service industry. The selected
industry for this report is Telstra. In this professional research, the researcher discussed the
research aim, questions, methodology, data analysis and findings, discussion and finally
conclusion and recommendation. The study discussed on revenue management and expense
management related to automation of service industry.
1.1 Problem statement
Automation in the service industry is included high rate of production, increased in
business productivity, efficient usage of the materials, and superior quality of product and
reduced lead times of the factory. The challenge of automation service is that it can increase in
productivity of the worker and increase in its wages. It allows few supported staffs with higher
speed as well as efficiency. Automation of the service is being accomplished by job losses. The
revenue which is being collected is not proper to achieve objectives of alteration of the business
economy. The study is being conducted on concepts of the automation as well as generation of
revenue. In this study, the researcher examined usage of information technology on the service
quality plus automation can enhance quality services and level of customer satisfaction (Ehret &
Wirtz, 2017). The research study is tried to fill into the literature gap so that it can solve
questions, effect of the automation services on generation of revenue at the service industry.

1.2 Research aim
The aim of this study is to identify the automation services in Telstra on operating
expenses and profit generation of the business and also compare its results using data from
annual reports of the company. It enables the company to generate business revenue from
customers result to increase in profit generation.
1.3 Research questions
Based on the research aim, following are list of the research questions identified to
conduct the research study such as:
i. What is relationship between operating expenses and profit generation in Telstra service
industry?
ii. How the profit generation is affected because of automation services of Telstra?

2.1 Automation and profit generation
Lacity and Willcocks (2017) stated that automation is involved with technology which
can execute role carried out by people. Automation helps people to perform their tasks. Lee and
Shin (2018) argued that automatically operation can increase productivity of the business
organization. It can enhance business performance, reduction of errors, speed plus quality
improvement. It can contribute towards business productivity of Telstra. Rymaszewska, Helo
and Gunasekaran (2017) discussed that higher automation level cause increase in generation of
profit. Automation into service marketing can also yield to generate revenue. The service
