INTRODUCTIONManagement is one of the highly important as well as significant part in each and everyactivity which is undertaken by the company or manager. The present study is talking aboutmanaging project which helps to the firm in order to meet with agreed aims and purposes inproper direction. Further, the procedure of planning, implementing, executing, monitoring,controlling as well as reviewing of the specific task is considered as the project management. Itincludes wide range of tools and techniques which are such as the Gantt chart, critical path, workbreakdown structure, network diagram etc. The present study based on Tesco Plc companywhere it describes about those elements and aspects which create negative impact on the projector success criteria up to the certain or larger extent. Moreover, causes of the project failure areexplained with the current research. Apart from this, critical success factors (CSFs) which arenecessary for effectively completion of every project are described in the present study. At theend of report, required attributes and skilled are briefly provided in proper ways. Beside this,recommendations given to the Tesco Plc in the present study for adopting CSF as well as theconsidering the project failure causes.Critical analysis of the project failure factorsAccording to Kerzner (2013) when specific success criteria or project cannot completedon time or not delivered within estimated deadline then it can be said that, project gets failure inthe company. There are several kinds of projects are undertaken by the manager in the businessprocess of Tesco Plc. Further, many types of the projects are like construction, mining, civil,manufacturing, service, management etc. When the project manager work upon the specific kindor success criteria then there are wide range of the factors which are necessary to consider(Reynolds, 2016). The Tesco Plc considers manufacturing project if the retail products as well asservices. If the required elements are not used and followed then overall project can becomefailure up to the higher level. Those aspects which affects to the smooth functioning of theproject and enhance chances of its failure are mentioned below:Poor Planning:As per the views of Anderson (2016) scheduling is one of the very important factor foreach project while the management going to adopt at the workplace. When planning of theproject is highly effectual and proper then Tesco Plc able to meet with the desired objectives up1

to the higher extent. If the initial stage of the project like planning, is not proper and effectualthen it affects the whole procedure in negative manner. Therefore, the whole smooth functioningof the project become failure and achievement of objectives as well. In order to resolve thisparticular factor, the project manager of Tesco Plc needs to make raw plan and then revise it.Further, if it is appropriate then should consider and start the activities.Lack of clarity about goals:In the opinion of Gwaya, Masu and Wanyona (2014) goals as well as aims must behighly clear and proper at the time of making any particular plan of the project. The reason isthat, it is very basic thing which required to determine the project activities and follow it. Oncethe goals are properly determined that necessary to communicate with team members as well assubordinates. Due to this, the project manager able to meet with the prepared goals at the time ifinitiation in Tesco Plc workplace.In contrary to this, Lim (2016) when goals and purposes are not framed in proper waysthen team members not able to understand it. Therefore, they will not clear with the objectives inproper and corrective direction which lead to hamper the success criteria up to the higher extent.In addition to this, if group not has idea and broad understanding about the goal then chances ofoccurring project failure increases. For resolving this specific conditions, the management ofTesco Plc must give clear idea about the objectives and increase understanding in subordinates. Communication issues:Edwards and Bowen (2013) states that, communication plays very important role in everyproject because it helps to the management in order to provide instructions and guidelines tosubordinates. In the company like Tesco Plc, when proper and clear communication is not therethen it leads to make failure to the overall project. Due to lack of communication, the teammembers cannot get clear idea as well as increase understanding of the objectives and aims. Onthe other hand side, within Tesco Plc, when the communication process is highly better and useadequate resources then it helps to give proper guidance. In addition to this, to communicateproperly from top to bottom level of the managers and employees also all the things must beclear which is supportive to complete the project on time. Henceforth, it can be criticised that,because of issues and problems related to the communication, the project can failure up to thegreater extent of the Tesco retail firm.2
