INTRODUCTION
Project management refers to the process of managing the work of a group towards the
goals and objective to achieve success criteria at a particular time project management is very
essential to complete a project on assigned time in effective manner (Klein and Müller, 2020)
QAHE is a Higher Education College which aims to provide outstanding higher education to the
students all over the world. QAHE is a private higher education provider of UK which works in a
partnership with colleges Universities and educational specialist in UK. With the increase
demand of Higher Education all over the world they want to improve their spaces in the classes
which is available for business students. This requires a proper refurbishment and redevelopment
of the campus to provide tiered seating to the students together with acoustic panels on the walls.
This report contains the project management of refurbishment and redevelopment of the London
campus of QAHE provides them tiered seating classes for their students. In order to manage this
project it also contains sample project initiation document having so much information regarding
the project with work breakdown structure hierarchy in the next part which helps to conclude the
dependencies milestones and the hierarchy of tasks which are included in the project
management.

TASK 1
Meaning and importance of project Initiation Document
Project initiation document is a document which helps to record basic data about the project to
define the plan in correct manner (Larsson and Larsson, 2020). Document contains objective and
plans of a project which are essential for the project to be completed on a specified time. Project
initiation document is created to provide a direction to the plan of project management and to
give a brief description about the timescales, objective, budgets, stakeholders and many more
information about the project. The project initiation document in order to complete the project of
redevelopment of London Campus of QAHE and provide tiered seating in their classes is to be
prepared which will help the project manager further to create work break down structure and

provide a proper hierarch of work to them. The project initiation document of this project is
given below:

 To provide redevelopment of QAHE Campus
 To provide tiered seating in classes of business students
 To provide acoustic panels on the walls to provide better space for teaching in the class
 To complete all this work in a provisional budget of £100k
Approaches
In order to achieve all those objectives it is essential for the project management team to adopt
approaches which are available in the market for efficient project management (Martinsuo and Huemann,
2020). For the purpose of this project, management decided to use the Waterfall model which is a
traditional approach and helps to achieve the project in efficient manner. Various steps which are
involved in this approach are given below:
Initiation: Initiation of the project requires a proper planning and analysis of requirements which are to
be required in order to complete the project. Project initiation helps to initiate the project in effective
manner by analyzing the project in a brief basis and a certain various demands of the project on the prior
basis.
Planning and designing: Planning and designing in the Waterfall model help to plan a proper design to
provide the clients a new experience for their construction. Designing helps to ascertain the basis
requirement start and strategies which are used by the management to develop the construction plan

(Rowe, 2020). In the modern phase of software development architecture use various software to provide
a proper design to the clients so that they can approve it on provinces before applying it to their site. This
step of waterfall model contains a proper draught document the construction plan with the help of
software to be showed to the clients.
Execution: Execution refers to the starting off the plan in real to reach and attain the goals of the plan. In
the current project of QA higher education the project management team needs to follow up the design
which has been provided by the previous system in order to complete the project. A carpenter needs to be
hired to develop and create tier seating in the classrooms and acrostic them on walls. Apart from that
execution also includes other functions of redevelopment and refurbishment of the site which is London
campus of QA higher education.
Monitoring and controlling: After assigning various subcontractors for the project it is very essential to
monitor the work of the subcontractors in a proper time so that divisions can be found in early stages.
This step is very essential for proper management of the project because the efficiency and effectiveness
of the project is depends on the work of contractors and if they are not controlled on time then there are
chances for unfinished work from them. In case of QA higher education London campus the project
manager shirt check the site and other subcontractors on the timely basis to monitor their performance in
the project.
Closing: Closing includes all the tasks which are remaining in the last such as decoration plastering and
many more. Before handing over the work to the client it is essential for project management team to
cross check the work which are provided by the sub contractor and give a proper finishing to their work.
Time scales
Timescales help in project management to manage time and provide the project on a specified time
period. Time scales helps to locate a various time required for that purpose and to accomplish the work in
the given time (Sanz-Llopis and Ostermann, 2020). The most common challenge which has been faced
by project management team in construction industry is to provide the projects on ascertain time period.
The time scale which was provided in this project are given below:

Budgetary information
A provisional budget of £100k is given to the project management team to manage the whole project. The
budgetary allocation among all the activities in the project management is given below:

Meaning and Importance of WBS
Work breakdown structure refers to the hierarchical breakdown of the work to be provided to the
project team to attain the objectives of the project (Thesing, Feldmann and Burchardt, 2021).
When it organizes in a structure, it defines the total scope of the project. Work breakdown
structure is very important for a project management because it makes the deliverables more
concrete so that the project team can exactly know that what needs to be attained in each
deliverable. Work breakdown structure also helps in estimation of cost risk and time through its
smaller tasks. Work breakdown structure provides a proper hierarchy of work in the
organization. The work breakdown structure hierarchy and its figure is given below for the
project of QA higher education redevelopment project.

CONCLUSION
From the above discussion it can be concluded that project management is to be
completed in effective manner to provide a better experience to the client. In case of project
management of QA higher education project initiation document helps to analyze various things
which are essential to initiate a project such as objectives of the project, approaches which can be
used to complete a project, timescales, budgetary information, key staff and key stakeholders.
Further the work is divided in smaller parts to make the work completed in timely manner and a
hierarchy is created which is shown in the work breakdown structure provided in the report.
