Introduction
The University of Roehampton's London Holborn Centre decides to refurbish the classrooms and the computer labs of the Birmingham
Campus. This initiative will facilitate the individuals who are willing to study in the heart of London. The University decides to replace the
existing hardware and software equipment with the latest ones. The teaching rooms will have modern furniture, well-designed benches, doors,
and windows. They have also planned to refurbish the computer labs. The computer labs will contain updated computer hardware and software
systems. The IT team will set up the hardware and software system, will set up the network and will initiate IT services within the campus. The
Managing Director has been given the responsibility to refurbish the Birmingham campus. He gets full support from the Director of Operations’
end. They also appoint me as the project manager.
The project manager will develop a project plan. The project plan will be helpful to carry out the business activities. The stakeholders can
be knowledgeable about the timeline of every activity. They can also know the budget required to conduct the project activities.

Objectives
 To take up the latest IT services. The updated IT services will facilitate students’ learning. The IT services are helpful to build successful
relationships with the stakeholders of the project.
 To build a classroom with modern features. The classroom will have a projector, modern furniture, and modern whiteboards. The
computer labs will have updated computer hardware and software resources.
 To develop an IT helpdesk. IT helpdesk is responsible for identifying, analyse and IT related issues.
 To build a healthy relationship between the teachers and the students. It facilitates the students to take up the training course materials

Approach
The Business School of Roehampton is planning to refurbish the classrooms and the computer labs. The IT Head and Facility Head of the
University decides to update the hardware and software resources. The Director of the University of Roehampton is the main sponsor of the
project. He plans to implement all the modern network, hardware equipment and modern furniture in the classroom and the computer labs. The
adaptation of IT services will give the edge so that they can conduct business with ease. The Project Manager has been appointed to prepare a
project plan. He will engage the stakeholders who will perform all the project activities according to the schedule set in the Project Plan. The
Project Manager assigns Construction Department for the project. The Construction Department comprises of roofer, floorer, painter, and
decorator. They will provide their best and will perform all the activities within the given timeframe and the budget. The IT Technician and IT
Support Representative will handle all the IT-related activities and will solve all the queries raised by students, internal staff and the faculty staff.

The risk management is crucial for every organization. The Business School at Roehampton University similarly must take the risk
management approach to safeguard their organization. The risk management approach will assist them to conduct the IT activities safely and
securely. There are numerous project methodologies available, and the University of Roehampton must adopt the project methodology that can
suit them best. The Project Director is the sponsor for the project (Noori et al. 2016). He may ask to complete the entire project much earlier
before the scheduled time. Therefore, there is a risk. The Project quality can get compromised because of this approach. A project methodology
can be helpful to fix a specific deadline for the project. All the stakeholders associated with the project can be aware of the start time and the
finish time of the project. The project planning is a part of project management. The project plan can help the stakeholders to know the details of
every activity of the project. The project manager and the project stakeholders can know the project start date, finish date, the stakeholders
associated with the project. There are other risks associated with the project. There are risks related to the classroom infrastructure as well. The
Project Director and the Project Manager must review the hardware requirements. The risk management approach and adaptation of project
methodology can be helpful to know the areas which can be improved. The project Manager analyzing the areas for improvement can conduct

the Project Charter; The Project Charter explains all the stakeholders related to the project along with their roles. The project manager and the
stakeholders can acknowledge the risks and the threats involved with the project. The Project Director may ask to hand over the refurbishment
project sooner. However, the Project Charter will help them to know the risks and the threats associated with the project. The Project Charter

demonstrates the start date and the finish date, thus stakeholders will have a clear idea about the deadline of the project activities ( Nibbelink,
Sutrisna and Zaman 2017). The Projector Charter also helps to know which stakeholders are associated with which activities. Also, they can get
to know the budget allocated for each project activity with the help of Charter. For this reason, the stakeholders associated with the project can
evaluate the minimal time and the maximal time by which the project activities must be completed. PRINCE2 can play an important role in
managing the sequential order of activities. The roof fitting, floor tiling, painting, and decoration will be done accordingly following an order.
The PRINCE2 Project methodology also helps in carrying out the refurbishment activities well. The PRINCE2 can assist in maintaining the
quality of the materials. The Business School can monitor the activities of the stakeholders and measure their skills and expertise, in this way
they can assign the best workers for the project (Lou, Lee and Welfle 2017). The PRINCE2 methodology can be helpful in mitigating the IT
risks associated with the project. The project methodology can be helpful in applying IT Governance policies. The IT Governance policies can
be helpful in mitigating the risks and the threats.
NULC collaborated with ILX and found out a solution by which the educational environment can get enhanced. They adopt the
PRINCE2 methodology to rejuvenate and improvise the education environment. The University of Western Australia also adopts the PRINCE2
methodology to organize their education environment (Lund et al. 2016). They were initially suffering from the bad project management.
However, they have recovered. The University of Roehampton can be able to rejuvenate the educational environment. The relationship between
the students and the teachers can be improved with the help of the PRINCE2.

IT Technician along with the electrician is in charge of setting hardware resources in new Birmingham Campus of the University of
Roehampton. The IT Technician will have to set up about ten laptops. Each of the laptop’s prices ranges around £125.
