1. Purpose of the Report
The purpose of this report is to develop a suitable project plan for the development of an
information system for Royal Children Hospital (RCH) with suitable encryption and storage
system for the data (patients’ data, doctors’ data and others). This will enable RCH to protect the
data from unauthorized access and stealing if the devices provided to the doctors and the medical
agents are lost or stolen. In order to provide security to the data, it has been planned that the
entire data will be stored in the cloud server and also for accessing the data each time, the user
has to pass through a number of verification steps.
2. Identification of Stakeholders
The stakeholders involved in this entire project system include the RCH administration
team members, the doctors, the healthcare agents and the patients.
3. Computer Network Equipment Site Evaluation and Barriers to Installation
For creating a private network for the hospital, it will be required to install a server to
which all the systems and the cloud database will be connected. In order to install such a cloud
server, a separate room will be required. Furthermore, during installation of the server in the
room, disruptions will occur in the hospital services that are not desired.
4. Transmission Path Details
The server will be connected to the internet using optical fiber network and all the
systems will be connected to the server via the LAN cables. For remote and transferrable

systems, the server will be connected to the system through wireless network. Data can be
transferred from the system to cloud and vice versa through the server after bypassing various
security tests for verification of the user.
5. Identification of the Hardware and Software Resources
Hardware requirements for the proposed project include workstations for the RCH
administrators and the laptops for the healthcare staff and doctors who travel to various branches
of RCH. The laptops should have face recognition feature and fingerprint scanner that will be
useful for verification process of the user.
6. Safety Aspects of Building or Area
The installation of the server will be done inside the hospital building and hence, the
safety aspects must be considered. The movement of heavy and space consuming services must
be done with proper care so as to not hamper the hospital services or result in injuries to any staff
including the hospital staff and other people.
7. Relevant Network Plans
The entire cloud database will be connected to the internal server of RCH. The office
workstations will be connected to the server through LAN network. However, for the remote
usage using the laptops, a network login system will be used in which the user will be able to
login to the system through a number of verification procedures and then will be able to access
the necessary data.
