Concept of employee motivation
Cerasoli, Nicklin and Ford (2014), stated that employee motivation is one of the effective
factor that results in encouraging individuals to enhance their commitment, and creativity
towards accomplishing company's targets. Management of firm requires to undertake effective
strategies for enhancing the morale of workers and thus encourages them to work hard towards
attaining desired success. They are involved in decision making process and thus results in
2
influencing consumers towards firm. However, employees working in each and every industry
needs to be encourages effectively as it results in improving their morale of rendering quality
services to customers. Thus, it results in enhancing customer base and raise their standards so
that success could be attained. Management of organization uses effective motivation theory
which results in enhancing their skills and capabilities and thus render appropriate services to
clients. Here, within Hilton hotel that operates in hospitality industry, managers are required
empower their workers by providing them appropriate training and development session so that
their involvement could be raised and thus encourage them to achieve desired results. However,
Bellé (2013), argued that if in any case employees are not involved in decision making process
due to critical situation of business as it would directly impact upon the performance of
organization therefore, it is essential for firm to empower their workers and thus enhance their
skills so that they could render better services to consumers.
As per the view of Noe and et. al., (2014), employee motivation is related to enhancing
their skills and proficiencies through encouraging them by providing both monetary and non
monetary rewards. Therefore, it is significant for management to plan appropriate strategies in
relation to motivate workers and thus lead to improve their behaviour which results in fulfilling
their needs and thus enhance their performance which ultimately raises the level of customer
satisfaction. Aryee and et. al., (2015), argues that motivation defines the intensity of employee
need or desire and then evaluate the same so that appropriate results could be achieved.
However, people working within hospitality industry requires to improve their overall
encouragement and thus move towards the same. Therefore, it is significant for businesses
related to service sector to encourage their employees as they are directly connected with
customers. For instance, if the employees will be satisfied from the roles and responsibilities
assigned then he/she would give better customer services and thus improves their overall
performance so that sales and profitability of business could be enhanced.
Importance of employee motivation resulting in enhancing work performance
As per the opinion of Andersen, Heinesen and Pedersen (2014), there are majority of the
organizations competing to survive in such fierce competitive market. Motivation and
performance are interconnected and therefore, it is essential for firm to encourage its workforce
from time to time through organizing different facilitation function and programs and thus
provide them both rewards and awards so that performance of organization could ultimately be

increased. Thus, in order to remain successful, it is essential for firm to maintain competitive
environment and therefore, acknowledge its workers in terms of influencing business
effectiveness. However, in regard to overcome challenges, firms are required to create a strong
and positive relationship with its employees so that they could be directed them towards
accomplishing the task. However, Breevaart and et. al., (2014), argued that implementing Theory
X and Theory Y results in making effective decision making and thus encourages workers to
enhance their morale and improve work performance. Thus, carrying out both these elements
helps in creating an pleasant work environment and thus align individual goals. Management
need to undertake effective policies and thus it helps in developing positive attitude towards
employees. It assists them to enhance their encouragement and thus improves work performance
of firm.
Furthermore, it is significant for hospitality industry to improve interpersonal
competencies and thus encourage workforce so that they could raise their performance and
achieve desired targets as per Karatepe (2013). Here, Hilton hotel requires undertaking effective
strategies in regard to motivate workforce and thus ultimately it would develop positive impact
upon job performance. Thus, all the needs and desires of workforce to be identified so that they
could be accomplished in regard to deliver better services or products to customers. Employee
could also be motivated through providing them appropriate leadership as all the things could be
done in a right way. However, Pinder (2014), argued that if Hilton is unable to provide
motivation to workforce than it might impact upon work performance of employees. Hence, it is
significant for employees to raise their degree of motivation and improves the level of
productivity within firm. Manager of hospitality industry is required to adopt effective practices
that helps in raising their encouragement level so that challenges faced by workers could be
avoided. However, it could be easily done by adopting effective strategies such as providing
rewards and awards helps in improving job performance of individuals and thus enhance their
satisfaction level.
Factors that affects work performance of employees
As per the opinion of Cerasoli, Nicklin and Ford (2014), employees aim to earn
reasonable salaries and therefore, it is significant for business to plan incentive programs so that
it influences workers and thus raise their productivity within business. Further, employees could

employees and make them follow their set targets.
Empowerment and organizational performance
Bellé (2013), stated that employees are required to provide good working conditions as
through which employee motivation can be planned. Good working conditions include hygienic
and clean environment with proper rest rooms, friendly working environment where supervisors
and seniors act as supporting persons. Also, it is essential for all the departments within
hospitality industry requires to work interconnectedly and thus develop effective relationship so
that work could be done in right manner. Motivation methods should be applied as per the level
and position of employees. It is witnessed in most of the working areas that workers who use to
work at lower level of management get motivation through monetary methods like pay raise,
bonus, incentives and so on. While middle and upper level of employees get motivation through
recognition, promotions, better job responsibilities etc. Through providing appropriate
motivation it results in enhancing the morale of workers and the raise their productivity so that
set targets could be attained. This can be done by giving proper motivation to all workers so that
each one becomes able to coordinate with each other. This helps the organisations to enhance
their productivity by rendering a quality service to the guests. Moreover, the motivation
techniques help in building goodwill of business as well. However, Aryee and et. al., (2015),
argued that raising the morale of workers results in improving the skills and experience of
workers so that their performance could be raised and thus manages the work within hospitality
industry. In addition, the enterprise can better manage their workers in attainment of
organisational goals. This will also help in solving the biggest issue of increasing employee
turnover among industries.

The following report is based on the impact of employee motivation on their working
performances. Research methodologies are tools and techniques that support addressing the
research problems and finding proper solution in order to achieve the objective of the study
(Coulter. and et.al, 2014). It is essential tool in the dissertation and research project by this way
scholar can gather in depth information about the subject matter. Research methodology can

Research philosophy
5
It is the tool that assist in collecting the information through effective way. These
are several types of philosophies such as interpretivism, positivism, pragmatism etc. These are
unique in nature and used by the scholar as per the type of study. It defines the process of
collecting the data on the subject matter (Ale Ebrahim, 2016). In the present research which is
investigation on impact of employee motivation on work performance scholar has taken support
of positivism philosophy. It would be better for the scholar and through this person will be able
to prepare good report because this approach can make link between motivation and
performance.
Research approach
It is another tool of research methodologies that emphasis more on the correct way of
gathering the information. It addresses the research problems and conduct the study in such
manner so that proper solution can be find out through this investigation. Deductive, inductive,
abductive etc . Are many types of approaches but final selection of the technique depends upon
the type of study and comfort level of investigator. In the present research, scholar has taken
support of inductive approach (Delavega. and et.al, 2017). With the help of this approach
individual will start the study from general view and later on different theories will be developed
in order to understand the concept deeply. Questionnaire has been prepared by the investigator so
that real impact of the motivation on employees and their work performance can be identified.
Research design
It is the techniques which plays significant role in the research project. It ensures use of
relevant information in order to prepare the good report. This tool looks upon the problem and
try to find out proper solution so that valid conclusion can be drawn by the investigator (Khaki,
2016). There are many types of design which are used by the scholars in the research project
such as experimental, exploratory, descriptive design etc. All these have unique features and give
different results. Researcher has to opt the best method that can be appropriate for the study. In
the present research project on employee motivation and its impact on work performance in
Hilton hotel descriptive research design will be used by the investigator. It would be effective
tool through this individual will be able to identify the importance of motivation and it will build
link between both these elements. This design pays more attention on observation through this
researcher can describe the behaviour of respondents and can find out the real answer of the
situation (Lambert, 2016).

Data collection
It is the most essential tool in the research project, without availability of sufficient
information scholar can not complete the study on time with quality. For understanding the
impact of employee motivation on work performance data can be gathered by primary and
secondary sources (Pearson, Albon. and Hubball, 2015). There are many primary sources such as
questionnaire, observation etc. In the current study individual has used the questionnaire
technique and questions have been asked by managers of the Hilton hotel. For the investigation
scholar has selected 7 managers of cited firm as respondents. Apart from this researcher has also
taken support of secondary sources. From books, journals, internet articles, websites some other
data have been collected. These information will be beneficial for the scholar and it will help in
completing the study in effective manner (Collison and Marchesseault, 2016).
Data analyses
It is one of the essential tool of research methodology. There are qualitative and
quantitative are two types of studies. Present report is qualitative research which includes words
and description in the study. In the quantitative individual has to use SPSS, Z- test etc and have
to involve numeric figures in the report. In the current project scholar will use thematic analyses
for analysing the data effectively (Melendez-Torres and et.al., 2015). Through graphs and charts
individual will present the data that will help in interpretation significantly
