INTRODUCTION
A process of leading team members for accomplishing specific project goals is known as
project management (Demirkesen and Ozorhon, 2017). This study is based on small The Naked
Pantry New Forest as it is a plastic free shop where customers need to bring their own containers
to refill with their kitchen pantry items and other household cleaning products. It opens a new
one more store and for this, this study will discuss factors that need to be considered in project
management plan.
MAIN BODY
1. Aim and objectives
Aim of conducting this project is “To increase market share by opening one more corner
convenience shop.” Study on The Naked Pantry new Forest.
Objectives
To increase market, share by 30% by opening convenience store.
To give easier access to customers for buying kitchen pantry items and household
cleaning products.
2. Project management plan
There are number of factors that need to be considered while project management planning such
as:
Scope: As the main aim of this project is to increase market share by opening one more
general corner shop. So, in this context, it can be said that it has wider scope and can be
beneficial for customers and managers. Manager can increase sales and customers can get
essential items at one place. For this, quality will be measured, team working will be done.
Time: It is important for project manager to complete given project in a timely manner in
order to accomplish goals and making stakeholders beneficial. Estimated time of completing this
project of opening one more corner shop is: 5 months (Silvius and et.al., 2017). This project will
be completed within 5 months.
Risks: Business environment is made up of number of factors and changes may happen
in this environment any time. Covid-19, climate change are some common examples and these
changes may create barriers in completion of project. For avoiding risks, risk management table
will be produced and back-up plan for each stage will be kept.

Cost: Cost is other main elements that need to be considered in order to complete project
as per available financial resources. For completion of this project, project manager is being
allotted £300. So, this project of opening a new store will be conducted in £290.
Resources: For completing project management in a successful manner, project manager
requires number of resources including. For completing this project, stationery, human resources,
technologies, interior designer, communicational tools will be used.
Communication: As it is a big project that has wide scope. There are number of
stakeholders who are interested or linked with this project. For communicating with internal
stakeholders, meetings will be conducted and for communicating with external stakeholders
telephonic and leaflet communication will be done.
Quality: Quality can be known as the degree of excellence. In regard to project
management, it can be said that quality is the main key of successful project (Ceptureanu and
et.al., 2017). For managing as well as measuring quality of this project, continuous feedback will
be given to workers, KPIs will be used and controlling task will be performed.

4. Importance of primary data collection
Data collection plays a vital role in completing project in a successful manner. There are 2
types of data collection such as primary and secondary. In regard to data collection, it can be said
that it refers a process of gathering important information relevant to research or project topic for
completing project with effectiveness. Primary data is all about information that are being
collected by researcher or project manager for the first time. Such data are being collected

directly from main sources such as: questionnaire, by conducting survey and interview. This data
has not been published before and it is the reason it is known as primary data (Davis and
Pimenta, 2021). Other main reasons of collecting such data even after it is time consuming
include: reliability, authenticity and accuracy. Some other advantages and characteristics of
primary data collection include: It gives up to date information that helps researcher in
accomplishing goals. It protects researcher against plagiarism or copying of data as such data
does not accessible to all as only researcher of specific project can collect data by conducting
either survey, questionnaire or interview. Overall, it can be said that primary data collection is
beneficial for completing project and accomplishing goals with effectiveness.

open ended which means, there were no specific options and sample were allowed to give

answer as per their own and share their feelings and suggesting one of the best way by which
their company can manage talent in an effective manner (Edwardson and et.al., 2018). So, on the
basis of above questionnaire¸ it can be said that this source can give accurate and up to date
information to project manager by which goals can be accomplished in an effective manner.
5. Importance of secondary data and literature on talent management
As with name itself, it can be said that secondary data refers information that is published
or available on internet or appropriate sites. Those data that have been published already is
known as secondary data. Such data is collected earlier by others and then it is being made
available on sites that are easily accessible. Books and journals, published articles, online
libraries are some sources via which secondary data can be collected (Trinh, 2018). By
conducting literature review or discussing views of authors regarding talent management,
secondary data will be collected in this project such as:
Theme 1: Advantages of talent management for businesses
According to the view of Barzantny and Clapp-Smith, (2021) talent management plays a
vital role within business as it can provide number of advantages. One of the main advantages of
managing talent within business is: improved performance of business. In this regard, it is stated
that when skilled employees perform their activities then they are more likely to focus on
improving quality of products and complete their tasks in an effective manner. By delivering
qualitative products, companies can attract customers to the great extent that can improve their
performance and sales as well.
Nkoane, (2018) argued and said that by managing talent and retaining skilled employees
within business, companies can take competitive advantages and can become the market leader.
In addition, they also said that skilled and motivated employees are more likely to support their
business and they bring innovative ideas. With innovation and creativity, they try to attract
customers and by grabbing attention of customers and providing them with qualitative services,
company can take competitive advantages.
Theme 2: Strategies for managing talent within business
As per the view of Ogbari and et.al., (2018) talent management is a process that starts with
attraction and recruitment of employees and end to retention of skilled employees. So, in this
context it is stated that one of the best way of managing talent is: training to recruited employees.
Everyone within organization requires training as it increases their knowledge and with

improved knowledge as well as knowing better ways of performing functions, employees can
improve their performance. Whereas, Nawangsari and Sutawidjaya, (2019) contradicted and said
that management of talent is all about motivation to employees. Employees stay with business
when they are being motivated and satisfied by manager. Financial and non-financial rewards to
employees is known as an effective way of motivating them. When employees receive
incentives, performance appraisal, promotional opportunities and appreciation on the basis of
their performance then it encourages them and makes them feel valued. Motivated employees are
less likely to leave organization hence, they stay with business that increase staff retention and
management rate.
Theme 3: What is appropriate leadership style for managing talent within business
As per the view of Widodo and Mawarto, (2020) leadership style plays a vital role in
motivating and managing employees. Leaders are the one who guides and lead employees and
help them out in accomplishing their goals. When employees get proper guidance then it makes
easier for them in performing their tasks and it improves their productivity. In regard to
leadership style, it is stated that transformational can help companies in managing talent. It is the
style in which, leaders create valuable and positive changes and encourage employees to
complete their tasks with innovative and easier ways. It increases knowledge and make
employees feel valued by which they stay with businesses for the long run.
Kusi, Opoku-Danso and Afum, (2020) argued and said that according to them, democratic
leadership style can help businesses in staff retention and talent management. As per this style,
employees are being encouraged for providing their views for improving decision-making
process of company. When employees are being given such opportunities then it increases trust
among them and they support their company in accomplishing goals.

motivation to employees for improving performance is the main meaning of talent management.
8 employees stated that according to them talent management start with recruitment of skilled
employees and 10 employees said that retention of skilled employees is the main concept of
talent management. Overall, it can be said that employees of this company know what is talent
management.

Interpretation: Some current strategies have been known of this company in order to suggest
them better strategies. In regard to current strategy, 7 employees said that their company focus
on recruiting employees from outside and bring innovation. 13 employees said that financial
rewards to employees is their main strategy and 10 employees stated that their company provide
training to employees for increasing their knowledge and skills. Trained employees find easier in
completing their tasks in an effective manner that improve their performance and boost
confidence. Confident and motivated employees are more likely to stay with business.

Interpretation: On the basis of above graph, it can be said that talent management can provide
number of benefits to companies. 13 employees said that with proper talent management their
company can increase customers’ satisfaction and retention rate and 9 employees said that it can
improve their brand image. Whereas, 8 employees stated that their company can take
competitive advantages by managing talent. In addition, they also said that when company has
skilled employees then it can provide qualitative and unique features of services that can help
company in attracting and retaining customers. Increased customers’ retention is associated with
competitive advantages.
Theme 4: Recommend the best strategy that your company should use for increasing staff
retention and management?
Interpretation: This open-ended question was asked from 30 employees of small general store
shop. The main aim of asking this open ended question was to give an opportunity to employees
of sharing their views openly and effectively. In this regard, some employees stated that their
company should provide both financial and non-financial rewards to employees in order to
motivate them and encouraging them towards accomplishing their goals. It is found that when
employees are being motivated as per their needs then they are more likely to stay with business.
Some other employees suggested that their company should make use of democratic leadership
style and should involve all members in decision making process. It can also make them feel
valued and motivate them.

7. Recommendations for business development
For the Naked pantry new forest organization to increase their market share they can proceed
with following processes which are-
To implement innovation:
Innovation is the effective process as it is used to add the new features and efficiency in the
product. Company can proceed with implementation of this strategy for that they can conduct ta
activity on the digital platform which records the response of the customer. With the help of
details given by the customer they can proceed to make innovation accordingly which can able to
increase their market position (Stankevich, 2017).
Reducing the price:
As for the innovative product organization can proceed with lowering the price for some time
period which is effective to attract the customer towards it. After some time they can increase the
price for the product when the product is successful in increasing demand in the market.
To make collaboration:
It is not possible to reduce the competition in the market instead of accusing the brand image of
other organisation, Naked pantry new forest can proceed to collaborate with their rivalry firm in
the market as it improves the strategic management as well as creates the hype in the market
(Aksoy, 2017). It is the effective method to increase the market share in their field of the market.
8. Reflection on project management
In regard to this project¸ I can say that this project management increased my skills as well as
knowledge to the great extent. Before starting this project, I was frightened and had doubt as
whether I can complete this project in a timely and effective manner or not. But peers support
and collaboration of stakeholders helped me out in completing thus project successfully. My
skills of communication and decision making helped me out to the great extent and with
improved communication, I conducted questionnaire and analysed data. As I was lacking behind
in time management and due to this weakness, I found some problems in completing project in
completing each stage as per the estimated time. But effectiveness of Gantt chart and prioritising
tasks helped me out in solving this problem.

This project also made me able in understanding better ways of finding secondary
sources and selecting authentic site. I knew importance of Gantt chart and effective ways of
preparing them. Along with this, I came to know about role of work breakdown structure in
successful completion of project. There are number of elements that need to be considered while
managing projects and these elements include: quality, resources, risk, time and scope. I found
some techniques by which we can manage or improve quality of project that is the main key of
success of project completion. Overall, I can say that I can conduct such types of projects in the
future in an effective manner or by considering elements that created some problems in this
project.
CONCLUSION
It has been summarised from the above study that risk identification, quality management
and scope identification plays a vital role in project management planning. It has further
discussed different between primary and secondary data as well as some effective ways of
managing talent within business.
