Introduction
This report discusses the risk assessment mechanism inside a global sporting event
from a competing team’s viewpoint (Hopkin, 2018). Tokyo is selected for the 2020 Olympic
Games and the game will give the world a memorable game. In this report, various aspects
are identified, which can create multiple issues by the Olympic participants that can impact
the strategies of the games of the participants in Olympic. This report aims to focus the risk
assessment of the Australian National Athletes team in the 2020 Olympic and the main
objective of this report is to identify the risks and assess the risks effectively by considering
the previous risks of the Olympic in order to mitigate the risks before the athletes face it
(Derom & Lee, 2014). This report is being conducted based on the previous cases of Olympic
and the risks related to that. This report focuses on the risks and the perception of the athletes
and the outcomes of the 2010 Norway Olympic Game, which will help in identifying the
risks factors and how the strategies helped the athletes for being selected in the 2010 Norway
Olympic Game (Mountjoy, Rhind, Tiivas & Leglise, 2015). For assessing the risks and
evaluating the result of the various aspects, this paper will discuss the risks assessment
techniques and the impact of the risks on the Australian National Athletes Team as well as
the classification and occurrence of the risks.
Risk Assessment
To grasp the risk concerns and approaches of participating parties, it is important to
under everything regarding major sporting activities viewed from the participating team's
viewpoint (Slovic, 2016). Several issues will interrupt the planning and execution. It will stop
athlete involvement and, in the worst scenario, trigger significant injuries or even athlete's
death. This is the new experience for the some coaches and leaders, and in particular for
athletes. The Olympic activity policy relies not only on the avoidance and treatment of

adverse incidents but also on incentives. The challenge would be that nearly any negative
factor can undermine the ability of the participants for performing optimally. There are
always really tiny differences even the best athletes, which ensures planning has to provide a
large outlook and give attention to specific information that may be deemed trivial in many
other environments.
By the analysis of the risks and the risks management strategy of the 2010 Norway
National Olympic from the findings of the issues those were faced by the participants of the
Norway National Team during the Olympic game of 2010. After analysing the risks, which
were faced by the National team of Norway, this is identified that this is very vital for the
country Australia and the Australian National team as this provide the opportunity for the
team to perform successfully. The participants of the Australian National team will be able to
focus on the performance in the Olympic game and the various risks are identified in the
project. Considering these issues, this can be said that the Australian National team can also
those problems, which will provide the team an idea and knowledge for avoiding the risks in
the performance of the game.
The aim of this study is to describe the problems of risk management in a large-scale
sporting event from the viewpoint of an Australia's competing national Olympic team and
also to examine how the team managed risk measures before and after the 2020 Olympic
Games in Tokyo.
