INTRODUCTIONProfessional development is the management program which gives the chances andopportunity to employees to improve and expand their professional knowledge for the futuregrowth. Report is based on the Home Instead Senior Care T/a Lifestyle Care Service” company,which is the largest senior care franchise in the world. Home instead senior care is amultinational network of franchises specializing in non-medical in-home care for the elderly.Report will include the professional development process of an individual and itsimportance. Report will also include the goals and targets of professional development in theorganisation. Further it will include professional development plan for individual and alsodescribe the improvement of the performance through reflective practices. TASK 1 1.1 Importance of continuously improving knowledge and practices Professional DevelopmentProfessional development is the processor activities by which a manager can improve andenhance the capability of their employees by providing training opportunities and education inthe work place. Professional development helps the employees in the organisation in buildingand maintaining their moral and motivate them to identify their inner capabilities(Rubens andet.al., 2018).Importance of improving knowledge and practicesContinue improving knowledge and practice for professional developing in the Homeinstead senior care is important because it ensures the capabilities of managers and developconfidence and satisfaction for their profession. It is ongoing process and continues withprofessional career.Continuously improving knowledge and practice make every individual in the hospital upto date with current standards of operation in the organisation.It helps the employees by improving their practice in the workplace in promote personalgrowth in the Home instead senior care company(DiPaola and Wagner, 2018). By improving knowledge and practice an individual can become a role model to otherstaff in the organisation.1

It builds the confidence in their own capabilities and for the future employment.By improving knowledge and practice manager of Home instead senior care can deliverthe best professional services to their customers and client at their home.Through knowledge and practice manager get the new skill sets, ideas and perspectiveand can share with the employees to lead great productivity and efficiency of theorganisation (Professional development,2019).1.2 Potential barriers in professional developmentThere are some barriers in professional development, these are as follows:Lack of self knowledge- One of the barriers for the professional development in the Homeinstead senior care is employees or individuals are not able to identify their own capabilities todo work in the organisation. The can not recognise their self knowledge and get distracted fromtheir goals and because of this they could not find out the best way to go ahead in theirprofession and not able to monitor themselves that which direction and guidance is best for theirprofessional career(Rubens and et.al., 2018). That create problem to a management also toprovide professional development opportunities in the Home instead senior care hospital.Culture- Every organisation have their different work culture like role culture, person cultureand many more that employees have to follow theses culture in the organisation. According tothese culture management of Home instead senior care plan professional development programand some time make their own rules and policies whether it is beneficial or not for theemployees. This lead professional development program to its end in very short time(Macià andGarcía,2016).Communication- In the organisation each and every employee comes from different culture andregion with different communication language. Organisation cannot build a professionaldevelopment program for each employees. They create single development program for allemployees, this create a problem that some employees are not able to understand the languageand cannot develop their professional skills.Company policies- This is the major barrier of the professional development program, that someorganisation not make the policies for their employees for their professional development or ifthey prepare this development program in the organisation they do not invest much and not makeefforts to make it effective for the individual and for organisation as well(DiPaola and Wagner,2018).2
