A) INTRODUCTION
Overview of the topic
Leadership is an art of motivating group of the people to act towards attaining common aim.
It can mean directing the colleagues and workers with strategy in order to meet requirements of
company effectively. Poor leaders are identified through their lack of capacity to give input to
team, that may come out of their own lack of ambition. Setting reasonable goals prohibits staff
from learning what they truly have to deliver. The poor skills of a leader develop negative impact
on the team members and their performance. Mismanagement is related to not to managing the
activities and operations at workplace in an effective manner (Hines, 2014). Poor leadership
skills and mismanagement both impact negatively on performance level of business. Bad
leadership cannot come through individual management but from the culture of the organisation.
A manager is unable to pull out best of workers if upper management doesn't have the tools to
compensate, value and motivate employees. Under control of poor leaders and managers, bad
leadership is costly, employee productivity decreases and employees are less dedicated to the
organisation and its task, which appears to lead to lower-quality jobs and slower doing of things.

Background of the organisation
PDVSA organisation is Venezuelan state-owned oil and the natural gas firm. This has the
activities in production, exploration, exporting and refining as well as the production and
exploration of the natural gas. The main focus of this company is to make improvement in the
leadership skills of employees so that they can work effectively and also managing the activities
of company. Company was founded in 1976 by Asdrubal Chavez, President. Company is
headquartered in Maracaibo, Venezuela (International), Moscow, Russian Federation (Europe).
Company is specialise in has activities which are exploration, production, refining and exporting
oil as well as exploration and production of natural gas. Company provides provides the
government of Venezuela with substantial funding resources
