1.3 Equipments and medicaments of different stages of non- surgical endodontics treatment
The root canal is most common non surgical endodontics treatment to eliminate the
diseased pulp. It involves inadequate cleaning, shaping and filling of canal system, missed canal
spaces, cracks or fracture of roots as well as re- infection of canal space leads to root canal
failure. Equipments required in this process are Gutta- percha, sealers or cements, mineral
trioxide aggregate, heat carriers, root canal filling instruments and magnification lenses.
1.4 Materials and medicaments required at each stage
There are several stages of non surgical endodontics treatments including required
materials are given below –
Stage 1 – It involves examining thoroughly by using mirrors, probes, dental forceps,
elevators and operative burs after numbing particular are of mouth with help of Lidocaine.
Stage 2 – This includes cleaning of pulp by enzymatic solution to make proper space for
filling.
Stage 3 – It refers to filling root canals with biocompatible material called as Gutta
percha which placed with adhesive cement and sealed it properly (Borén, Jonasson and Kvist,
2015).
Stage 4 – This involves restoration of for full protection and regular functioning.
1.5 Instruments required for isolation of tooth
This refer to separate tooth from oral tissues and saliva with help of using cotton, dental
dam and other materials. It includes use of rubber dam, clamps, dental forceps, frame, lubricant
like Vaseline, napkins and dental floss in order to isolate tooth.
1.6 Equipments required during each type of non-surgical endodontics treatment
There are several non- surgical endodontics treatment in which different equipments are
used which as as follows –
Pulp capping – This process required certain materials such as zinc oxide eugenol, glass
& resin modified glass ionomer, adhesive system, calcium hydroxide cement and mineral
trioxide aggregate.

Pulpotomy – It includes materials like formocresol, mineral trioxide aggregate, zinc
oxide eugenol & calcium hydroxide and ferric sulphate as local anesthetic solution.
Pulpectomy – This requires to follow Buckley's formula including formocresol, consists
of triocresol, aqueous formaldehyde, glycerine and water.
2.1 Monitor and support an individual during treatment
This involves to make a person motivated by supporting them morally during treatment
so that operator can proper conduct endodontics treatment to make them diseases free. It is also
helpful to reduce discomfort of patient by improving their morale level.
2.2 Assist operator during isolation of tooth
The operator remain focussed towards root canal of a patient then it is essential to assist
them by providing different equipments in correct order. It includes provide different materials
like rubber dam, clamps, dental forceps, frame, formocresol and mineral trioxide aggregate.
However, it is helpful to maintain focus and reduce risks during whole process of treatment
(Chang and et. al., 2016).
2.3 Aspirate treatment area to establish clear field for operation
The aspirates treatment refers to clean mouth by removing extra saliva and other material
so that infected area can be clearly observed which helps to operate properly. A clean sheet,
cotton rolls and soft toothbrush can be used to clean particular field of operation to make patient
infection free.
2.4 Equipments for irrigating root canals
The solution used for irrigating root canals is sodium hypo chlorite (NaOCl) and mostly
prefer by dentists but several other solutions are also utilised including Chlorhexidine,
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and Hydrogen peroxide. NaOCl is pulpal dissolution
and antimicrobial effect and it is used as organic solvent.
2.5 Measurement and recording of root canal length
The accurate measurement of root canal length is primary step for conducting successful
pulpectomy in order to make patient disease free. It involves an appropriate devices called as
odontometer for measuring root canal length accurately to facilitate perfect treatment.
2.6 Prepare materials and medicaments
The respective materials and medicaments are given below –
3

The respective materials and medicaments are given below –
3
Temporary placements in canals – Calcium hydroxide should be filled by using rotary
Lentulo spiral or EndoActivator device.
Permanent placement in canals – It involves use of rotatory paste filler and small
flexible instrument to fill Gutta- percha with adhesive cement (Andreasen, Andreasen and
Andersson, 2018).
Restoration of tooth – Amalgam, glass ionomer cements and resin based composite
materials are used for restoration.
2.7 Post operative instructions on care of mouth
Post operation instructions –
Remove gauze packs after one hour.
Provide immediate medication to reduce pain and infection.
Apply ice pack to the jaw for preventing swelling.
Render correct guidelines regarding diet, rest and medicines.
CONCLUSION
The above report conclude that non surgical endodontics treatment have primary goal to
regain access to the periapical area including several equipments. It involves various materials
and equipments for root anal like Gutta- percha, sealers or cements, mineral trioxide aggregate,
heat carriers and root canal filling instruments.
