more restrictive strategy. However, these parents can be encouraged to develop
their own skill in order to provide much more balanced approach. In this regard,
the authors of this study have proposed a policy which will benefit for both the
parents and children by enabling mediation (Livingstone et al., 2017).
Identify any strengths or limitations of the research
design or methods.
(100 words)
The key strength of this investigation is that this study is based on a tried and
tested method which was developed by the EU Kids Online for the evaluation of
the digital skills among the children. In addition to that this study was conducted
in eight different countries with a total respondent number of more than 6000
(Livingstone et al., 2017). This is also a strength of this study as it can be relate
to the populace in the different countries.
The limitation of this study is that the respondents were only parents and no
children were included in this investigation (Livingstone et al., 2017).
What are the proposed applications of those findings for
everyday life?
(100 words)
The proposed application for the finding of this study is to development of the
strategy or policies by which support will be provided for both children and their
parents. The authors of this study has emphasised on the importance of the
digital inclusion and by the findings of this study they have concluded that the
parents should encourage their children to develop their digital skills by
enhancing online opportunities as well as building resilience (Livingstone et al.,
2017).
Provide your own example of how the findings from this
study could be applied for everyday life.
Note that you do
not have to provide personal or identifiable information.
(200 words)
In today’s world, adequate in online skills is really necessity for every generation
of people. Online application has many advantages in every aspect of life.
However, like any modern technology it has some harmful effects as well. The
reason behind this study was it as well. The authors have studied how to build
enhance online skill as well as building resilience. They have shown that by
encouraging the children online development skills can be enhanced.
Interestingly, this study’s findings have some real life opportunity as well and
due to the negative effect and parents’ interference some children can be
technologically challenged in online education.
In my adolescence year, I had acquainted with a boy who had trouble handling
all the online parameters in schools due to limited exposure to online skills. His
parents were a victim of online scam in the nascent years of the online shopping
which has grown in to a phobia for all things related to the internet. Owing to this
reason, his parent was very restrictive about the use of the internet and anything
online. This restriction has a detrimental effect on his ability to navigate through
online technicalities. Using the evidence of this study’s findings, it can be stated
that had his parents encouraged him to use online instead of restriction, he
would have had better online skills.
Can you identify any barriers to implementing this
change?
(100 words)
Psychology for Everyday Life_2
Any new implementation method always has some barriers. This method is no
exception of that and there are also some barriers to the implementation of this
intervention. First barrier is stigma related to the generation gap. People who
have not grown up with the internet tend to hold a negative effect towards
internet, and to implement this intervention, this stigma need to be overcome.
Another barrier to the implementation of this intervention is the lack of
knowledge regarding safety and precaution of the use of online discussion.
