Part 1
Comparison of the result obtained by me and my peers
The Johari Window is defined as the technique which helps individuals to obtain a better
understanding of their relationship with themselves as well as others. In the Johari window,
subjects pick a number of adjectives from a list, choosing ones they feel describe their own
personality (Mayer, Caruso and Salovey 2016). The subject's peers then get the same list, and
each picks an equal number of adjectives that describe the subject. When it comes to my test
with the help of the mentioned tool, I have tested my emotional intelligence with the help of my
peers. The term emotional indulgence is defined as the capability of an individual to recognize
his or her own emotions as well as the emotions of other. Emotional intelligence is highly crucial
in order to enhance as well as maintain the quality of both professional as well as personal life.
In order to compare the result obtained by me as well as my peers when it comes to my
emotional intelligence, I have used the four quadrants of the Johari Window.
1. Open Space: This is about the behavior of mine that is already known to others. When it
comes to my emotional intelligence, both of my peers agreed to the fact that my level of
emotional intelligence is satisfactory. As an individual I also agree to the fact. According
to the score card of both of us, I possess god relationship with some of my colleges while
it becomes difficult for me to work with some of them and vise versa. Both of my peers
agreed to the fact that I lack self management capability.
2. Blind Spot: The blind spot refers to behaviors that my peers have evidenced while I have
not. When it comes to my emotional intelligence, according to one of my peers I need to
work on myself awareness. According to them I need to develop my ability to read as

well as understand my emotion as well as recognize their impact on my performance and
relationship. Though I am not aware of this behavior of mine, I will definitely try to
assess this issue and rectify the same in near future.
3. Hidden Areas: The hidden area in the Johari Window signifies those behavioral qualities
of mine that my peers are not aware of. According to the test given by me, I possess
effective amount of social awareness. The chief three components of social awareness
include empathy, organizational awareness as well as service orientation (Sánchez-
Álvarez, Extremera and Fernández-Berrocal 2016). As an employee in the previous
organization I have worked in, I have been awarded 2 times for being highly service
oriented. Service orientation refers to recognizing as well as meeting the needs of the
consumers. Since I am new in this organization, I feel this aspect of my character is
hidden from my peers.
4. Unknown Area: As an individual I am still not fully aware of my skills when it comes to
conflict management and influencing other individuals. From the results of the test given
by my peers, I assessed that they also are unable to assess the same.
Part 2
My strengths are weaknesses
In order to develop effective behavioural qualities it is highly crucial for an individual to
identify and analyse his or her own strengths and weakness. Identification of strengths helps an
individual to develop self confidence and self awareness. On the other hand identification of
weaknesses enhances the potential of an individual to understand the loopholes in his character
and eliminate the same to enhance his emotional intelligence.

When it comes to my strength, as per my opinion, I have the potential to conduct accurate
self assessment. I am highly critical about my own behaviours and give a realistic overview of
my own strengths as well as limitations. Another major strength of min is my self confidence.
As an individual I possess a positive as well as strong sense of self worth. The third strength that
helps me to cope with adverse situation is my empathetic nature (Petrides et al. 2016). From
childhood, I possess the ability to understand the concerns of others and demonstrate active
interest in their concerns. These strengths of mine, I believe will definitely help me to become an
effective manager in near future.
When it comes to my weaknesses, one of the major weaknesses is lack of emotional
stability. Since my high school, i have evidenced that in critical or emotional situation, I am
unable to manage my emotional vulnerability. This in turn often creates adverse impression
about me in the mind of the audience. Another weakness of mine is lack of self control skills that
is keeping disruptive emotions as well as impulses under control. I also lack the ability to
persuade an individual by understanding his psychology. These weaknesses of mine can impose
adverse impact on my future profession.
Part 3
Emotional intelligence is a highly crucial factor that has the potential to enhance both
professional as well as personal experience of an individual. Considering the fact that I work as
an employee in the Woolsworth Organization, it is highly crucial for me to develop my
emotional competencies in order to work efficient with the multicultural workforce.
The first competency that I will work on will be to develop my self control especially when it
comes to emotional outburst. For this, I will consult with psychologists along with performing

short bouts of exercise. Not only this I will watch inspirational videos as well as read books that
will helps to cope up with unwanted emotional outburst. The second competency that I would
like to develop is effective communicational skills. For this it is highly crucial to learn non
verbal communication. It is also crucial to rely on visual aids and welcome honest feedbacks.
Audience should also be engaged in discussion (Raman, Sambasivan and Kumar 2016). In order
to develop my communication skills I will undergo professional courses as well. Professional
guidance will help me to enhance my communicational skills in a more rapid and effective way.
Another competency that I need to develop is the capability to pursued individual. Persuasive
competency will help me to persuade my client while offering them with the products of the
company. Not only this, this skill will also enhance my reputation and individual managing
ability a a leader. For developing persuasive competency, I will conduct scenario exercises with
my peers where they will provide me with a scenario and my task will be to persuade one of my
peers by stating him about the benefit of the product.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that majority of my perception about
myself is similar to the perception of my peers about me. However, I need to demonstrate my
hidden behavioral qualities in order to improve my perception amongst my peers. Not only this, I
will develop some major behavioral competency in order to become an efficient leader in future.
