“Causes and consequences of obesity in children and adults”
INTRODUCTION
Obesity is the extreme medical condition in which body fat of individual gets increased
which impact negatively on the health of the person. Present research will discuss main factors
that increases chances of obesity in the person (Campbell and et.al, 2014). Furthermore, long
term consequences of disease will be describe in the study. In addition, prevention strategies to
control over the obesity and reduce the number of cases of this issue in the UK will be described
in this research project (Ganie and et.al, 2017).
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In the year of 2016 approx 1.9 billion adults were found with obesity. This excessive fact
accumulation impair health of human being to great extent. UK is on top in this respect, there are
approx two-third men and women are suffering from high diabetes and having excess body fat
(Graham, Baker and Davies, 2015). As per the report of World Health Organization (WHO) it is
shown that 28.1% adults of UK are recognized with this medical issue and even it is estimation
that till 2020 one third population may get obese. There are many factors that causes obesity and
increases body fat of individual. Adults and children have to follow proper diet and have to
engage in physical activities so that they can reduce their weight and can live a healthy life
(O'reilly and Reynolds, 2013).
RATIONALE
Number of obesity cases are increasing in the UK to great extent. In the year 2016 approx
62% adults were recognized overweight or obese. The main reason of conducting this
investigation is to identify the factors that increases obesity in the person so that medical
professionals can take necessary prevention strategies to minimize such type of cases (Sommer
and et.al, 2014). With the help of this research scholar will be able to make people aware with
the effectiveness of health awareness so that they can take care of their diet and scheduling, it
will assist in remaining them fit all the time.
AIM AND OBJECTIVES

LITERATURE REVIEW
As per the view of Nicholls and Brown, (2014) obesity is the serious medical issue and
main reason of occurring this issue is unhealthy diet. When the child or adult is not taking
healthy diet then it may increase their body weight and they get suffer from obesity. According
to O'Reilly and et.al, (2014) genetics is the main factor that causes obesity in the new child. If
obesity is the parental disease then new child will get suffer from the same. Genes affect body fat
and unequal distribution of fats done in the human body which increases severity of obesity.
Campbell and et.al, (2014) tates that inactivity is the main cause or factor that creates obesity
cases in the population People are busy in their life and they have no time for physical activities.
That is why weight gets increased and individual has to suffer from obesity (Obesity, 2017).
As per the view of Graham, Baker and Davies, (2015) obesity creates long term
consequences in the human being because by this way many more diseases also take place in the
person's body. It impairs their health and they fail to survive a healthy life. According to O'Reilly
and et.al, (2014) obesity give chance for the development of more disease such as diabetes,
higher tension etc. It is essential for the patients that to take care for their health and do proper
exercise that can help in minimizing the fat and can decrease consequences of the disease.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES
Research methodology is the tools and technique that helps in collecting quality
information about the topic. The main aim of the present research is to identify causes and
consequences of obesity (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015). For the present topic scholar will
take support of interpretivism philosophy, it will help the investigator in conducting the

investigation from subjective point of view. Furthermore, researcher will use descriptive research
design. It is considered as effective method which can help in describing each element
effectively.
Scholar will use the inductive approach and will involve theories and models into the
study (Flick, 2015). These theories and models will be beneficial in gathering in-depth detail
about the topic. By this way individual can be able to develop understanding about obesity and
its prevention methods. Furthermore, researcher will collect information about obesity by using
primary and secondary sources. In the primary method individual will take support of interview
technique. Whereas some detail will be gathered from books, journals etc. For analysing the data
individual will use thematic analysis tool.
LIMITATION
Researcher will have limited time for completing this study and in such shprt period it is
difficult to do the same. Furthermore, scholar can not involve large sample size because it would
be time consuming but in limited sample size it is difficult to get authentic data. Researcher will
have limited financial resources which would be limitation for the person because individual will
not be able to use advance technologies.
OVERCOMING LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
Proper scheduling will help in completing the project within specified time duration. It is
qualitative investigation so researcher can analysis the data from thematic approach rather can
any advance software. This may also give accurate results about obesity and its consequences.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATION
Researcher will follow ethical aspects and will take permission from the medical professionals
before asking questions with them (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015). All data will be
gathered from authorized site and individual will write all the detail about obesity in its own
language.
